Think you might like to do some calcs on a 4.30 rear, you might want to re think that for 1/4 mile, might be out of revs before the end.......... Love the pic of son in the seat!!!! keep on truckin looks good!
Hey Carl - It's probably a good 1/8th mile set up with those 4:30 gears. I'm hoping to get my hands on a second pumpkin so I can switch out between a 1/4 and 1/8 mile set-up. I sent that picture of my son in the FED to the grandma's and I started receiving threats. We'll see what we can get away with.
with 4:11's I'm out way before the 1/4 Grandma's will eventually get over it..................... son will eventually love it.............. dad will love son and grandma more if they let him go!
Been a little while since I posted an update. I will post some more pictures of the latest work later BUT I have found out some more history on this FED. Well - How cool is this. I have been able to confirm even more history on my FED - back into the 60's. It was owned and driven by a man named Bob Alberty and the FED was in fact named "Snafu". This Kellison ch***is FED was originally set up for a 427 Ford, then changed over to the 392 Hemi (Got the original motor plate) and it was later run as a Jr. Fuel car on nitro. I have been able to contact Bob's son (Bob Jr) and he sent me the pictures below. I hope to have the opportunity here in the near future to visit the Bob Sr himself.
Here's the latest. Got the pinion support and coupler housing just about finished up and the brake pedal is coming together.
Yes - On top of it and I still need to add the shield for the differential too. This is the only FED I have ever come across that did not have one already on it. Working on something really trick for the shifter too.
Comming together nicely How is the progress on the flathead? ................................. Taildragger&fenderless
Nice car, keep up the good work & keep us posted! Love those '60s shots of the car on the front lawn, they are priceless. "Fuel Dragster - a hobby for the whole family!" Willi
Here's a couple. The cage was horrible - so it came off. I am working on one that will still be a five point, but shaped more like the original. I did not like the square look of this one. Before
