Amen to that. For the record, it was just a conversation starter, not really something I dwell on. If anything, it just motivates me to get it done faster so I can pull up next to them at a stop light in their **** box and do a big smokey *** burn out right in their face!

BTW, the honda comment was dead on, all three of the main offenders drive Accords, and I actually said that line word for word to the wife. Perfect!

Ha, ha, I second that. The people I have met, whether car people or not, hve always gotten it. The lady I ran into, who had a brand new Escalade, wished she had my car.

It is amazing how much people bicker about nothing. That said, my 24-year-old son told me something he uses in cases like this. He just stares at the person ...doesn't say anything, just stares at them. He says they will eventually become uneasy and either change the subject or go away. I don't know if I will be able to do it without laughing...but I'm gonna try it sometime

everyone has different ideas on what to do with their cars, i have built & wonderfully restored 3 gto's, drove them a while and sold them for a tidy profit. my brother on the other hand, built a 37 plymouth 39 yrs ago and he & i built a 61 rambler cv 16 yrs ago, he still has them both and always will ! i say to each his own, but i like money !!! LOL

Your post states "they always" as this happens regularly. I can't remember ever coming across anyone like you describe.

I don't really like talking to ANYBODY, let alone *****s. You should really stop indulging retarded people. I get approached a lot, I usually just **** with people.

    Guy at parts store:

"Hey man, cool car, you gonna rat rod it!!??"

    Me:

"What the **** is a "RAT ROD"??"

    Stop light.

    Idiot in Dodge Caravan

"Hey what YEAR is that!??" (smoking with children in car, obvious s***-****s)

    Me:

    "1993"

Idiot at Safeway, sporting Subaru key chain fob. (I'm in my newport)

"Hey man so is this like a LOW-RIDER or something?? Does it have like hydraulics?"

    Me:

"Yeah, MAAAAAAAN, does your Subaru have a cold air intake and ****??"

People are stupid, I thought we all already knew about this..

By "they always" I just mean when I am conversating with "them" "they always" say the same things. Doesnt happen 24/7 and when it does I dont pout around, I just happened to be cruisin the HAMB when a coworker came in and asked about my project he was hearing about and proceeded to ask all the usual stupid questions.

This has gotten out of hand, all I was getting at was I dont have many friends/family members/co workers that are real car people that can relate to what I am doing, thats all.

I guess thats why we come here though, right, if we can ever get the ***tiebabies to stop making threads like this, that is.:D

A conversation starter? Are you ****ting me? Your whole dumb ***** is about people having dumb conversations with you. Now you wanna start a dumb conversation with us? Dryer sheets and Plastic Easter Egg grilles please. I'm sure your 1 legged smokey *** burnout really drives the point home.

You know, if we took out all the ***holes talking **** about this thread it wouldnt be such a dumb conversation now would it? I always thought the whole point of various threads is to read only the stuff you are intersted in, so why read it and why the **** post in it? Who the **** made you the decider of all things that are dumb?

And good job recognizing sarcasm as well.....

    Holy **** delete this already....

shadams, I can relate to what you're saying. Went to Walmart today in my Nomad (like I always do) and a guy was standing there looking at it when I came out, and asked me how much it was worth...I said "I don't know but I've owned it 20 years and driven it 300,000 miles." His wife told me it was a real neat looking van. I thanked her, got in my car and drove away.

It reminded me of when I bought the Nomad and got this comment from my 3 yr old son (who is now 23): I like this minivan!

He knows what a Nomad is now!

Why is everybody so *****y? I've seen WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY worse threads than this and it's all lollipops and rainbows. Some of you guys must have had your wheaties pissed in this morning. Can't we all bond on the fact that non car people are idiots, or are we all bored with that and turning on each other now? The guy's just *****ing about stupid people, and some of you jump his **** like a ****in abused pit bull? Yeesh, it's not like he was talking about rat rods.

Hmm, I've never had that response but I sure as hell would get my shorts in a wad about it if I did.
A lot of my friends are not car people and none of my family are and they are mostly NOT idiots. I am flattered that they are interested in my hotrod and always have patience for any questions they might ask about it.

Amen! I keep it short when I'm approached by the "have-nots", but usually try to ignore them. When I'm stuck in a situation where I have to talk to one of them it usually goes like this:

Guy: Hey man, so and so told me you're into old cars and ****?
    Me: Yep
Guy: Man, that's cool! My uncle had a Mustang, it was so fast.
    Me: Oh ok
Guy: So what do you drive?
    Me: Just an old truck
    Guy: Cool, did you...
Me: Aw man, I'm outta beer, see ya

    Your answer:
    "Me: "Yep"

*Better answer*: "No, just old cars." :D:D

  26. Usually when i finish a project ill sell it if something better comes along. That way i can sink all the profits into the new project. If its something i really like ill end up keeping it.

Very often I find something I know absolutely nothing about to be quite fascinating. And I usually ask questions.

You want funny looks, drive a Rambler!! ;>
Seriously, more people look at me funny when I come out of Lowe's and throw a few 2x4s or something big and dirty in the back of the wagon. They don't get that I actually USE the car! Few question me driving an "old car", especially once they look at it a bit closer and notice the new model seats, stereo, AC, and engine (the "4.6L EFI" sticker on the tailgate since the hood isn't usually up, and that's a stroked AMC/Jeep SIX, not a OHC Ford V-8!!).

Doesn't bother me what they say. I hear that stuff and it's like water off a duck's ***. The non car people's comments mean less than the car people's comments.
There's always the guys that say "you should do....." or "you need to...." Who really cares? It's my cars and my money, so I do what puts a smile on my face, and to heck with everyone else.
