To all in the Omaha area:

I'm heading down to Joplin on Friday at noon with my pickup and a small enclosed trailer. I am collecting donated items to help out those that are in need and have lost everything.

Here's a quick list of items:
    Water
    Toiletries
Non-perishable food that does not need to be cooked
    Sleeping bags
    Tarps
    Rope
    Duct tape
    Flashlights
    Batteries
    Sunscreen
    Baby items: food, diapers, etc.
    Antibacterial hand wipes

If you'd like to donate anything for me to take down there, please drop it off at my house. Easiest way to get ahold of me is by cell phone: 402-681-3088. I will give you my address over the phone, would rather not post it here.

I'll be joining Ryno and crew to help with the relief/clean-up efforts:

    Thanks, everyone...
    Nick
    aka "Malcolm"

Be careful Nick, they are predicting more bad weather. I have a friend that lives there and he said they are not letting people into the area, might be different if you have supplies.

We will keep an eye on the weather on our way down. Leaving around noon Friday and going straight to Ryno's. He is accessible, just north of Joplin. Sounds like we will stage from his shop to the Church as necessary and allowable.

Will you be rolllin' thru the KC area? I can meet you at a "fuel stop" and toss some stuff your way if your not full (trailer/truck wise). Water and "baby wipes" from CostCo....and I bet that I can take up a donation from some in my area for some petrol for your truck.

HUGE thank you to Magnus, RAZIN CAIN, Rocky, sodbuster Chris, and everyone else that has donated items and/or cash!
I can't tell you all enough how much I appreciate all of this.

Right now we are getting to the point of need a medium-large Uhaul (type) moving truck to take everything down there. One of our product reps. from work has donated $500, which will cover fuel and buy more supplies. If anyone has the ability or connection to get a moving truck donated or discounted, please let me know.

There have even been a few random people contact me to donate items (such as a pickup load of tarps!). They did a Google search "Joplin donation Omaha" and this thread is the first thing that popped up, so they called me to donate items.
Talk about the power of the HAMB right there.... just unbelievable.

Thanks again, everyone, this is all for a great cause.

  25. Hey Nick. You are good people! Ryno said something about needing chainsaws on the other thread. I did not see if you were coming through KC or not? I could drop it off at Chris' house if you are?

Hey gang! Just got a chance to get on the site and want to say THANK YOU to all for your support. This is really a major disaster in our area and have been there to volunteer. It is almost unbelievable how much damage has been done, yet on the other hand, very emotional to see the outpouring of love and encouragement from people that you don't even know. My aunt and family lost 3 homes and yet all are alive and well, along with many many friends that lived in the "zone". I can't thank you enough for your support. This really is a fantastic group of people here. Thanks again.
