Is the n.s.r.a. doomed or do they just need to retrench and rethink some things?

Note to N.S.R.A. Take a weekend and attend the Follies. Now just attempt to duplicate on any scale and you will make me happy.

  2. I have been a member of GG since 1991 and have been to most of their shows all over the U S. the main reason I joined originally was because my car was to new for the NSRA. The first show I attended was the show in Pomona, CA. When we got there we were made to feel welcome by every body connected with the organization up to and including Gary Meadors. From that point on I was sold on their organization.
I attended the first show in Des Moines and several other first time events. I eventually became a rep for them and served as a rep for about 10 years. During those 10 years I participated in several of their cruises from one event to another and without a doubt this one of the most enjoyable parts of the deal. To me traveling down the road with a bunch of guys in their old hot rods, visiting various shops and just having fun with your old car and good people was what it was all about. I enjoyed the shows but doing the cruise thing was the neatest part of the whole deal.
this weekend coming up I plan on going to the Hunnert Car Pile-up driving my truck down the road almost 500 miles just to be with a group of people that like old cars as much as I do. (hopefully my truck can get in)
Any way, if you want to have fun, get in your hot rod and go for it. If you want to ***** about what it might cost or how much so and so is making don't go. I am going and I am going to have fun no matter what you think.
By the way who cares if the NSRA or GG or any other organization pads their numbers. I don't. I can only see so many cars any way.
    Later,
    ****

I agree, I don't really care what the number is. Either the show suits my taste and mood or not. And i don't ***** about the ones that don't do it for me, i just don't go back. Seems so simple.

As a vendor I have seen the steady decline in the numbers at the NSRA events. I don't do GG because I cater to the 28-48 Ford crowd and seem to do better at NSRA. I do think the registration numbers are always considerably higher than the actual numbers. I did Kzoo which had ****ty weather for all 2 days and the numbers were really down. I will continue to do the Nats but will have to take a hard look at the smaller events and maybe stay closer to home. It is just getting to expensive to pull to the shows, also pay the inflated motel rates. It seems like if you don't attend the shows people think you are out of business!

I let my memberships go for GG and the NSRA. Joined TASRA out of Gulfport , Ms pre 49 vehicles. Can't say enough good things about them.
Charter membership until the end of the year. Plastic membership cards for
self and spouse with your car on it. Monthly newsletter, close to if not over 500 charter members in the first 10 months and growing rapidly. Annual get together. No more GG, NSRA for me.

I must disagree with the post on Pin Up contests to ****e up an event. No way I'd like to see one at an NSRA event. Just the thought of it conjures up images I'd rather not see. Now a NOPI event, thats a different story.

The downward trend at York began when they stopped allowing camping inside the fair grounds. For ever it was a blast to stay inside have tons of fun with friends you don't get to see all that often and just have a great time. Now the place is empty at 4:30. Speaking for myself and all my friends we will be pissed about this forever!
