Started tearing down the engine compartment on my '53 Chevy Deluxe. It has a 235 in it although I'm finding it difficult to narrow down the year. I've used a few of the sites recommended here but using the serial numbers isn't producing anything..Anybody know where I can find a service manual? I've looked up Chilton's and it doesn't show one available. Finally, removed the oil drain plug and water......then finally oil sludge came out. Good or bad? Also, the comp. around the cyclinders where water cools is rusted and full of ****. Any ideas? Flush or sandblast? Any ideas are greatly appreciated....Learn as you go!
Water oil mix is not a good thing. The block will have be vated to clean it up. Is rust showing on the top of the pistons and around the walls ?
Need to pull the "top" off but there is rust around the outside of the cylinders...although the valves are coated with oil..no rust. As far as the oil water mix...figured it would be empty but this thing has probably sat for years so when I can I'll get it apart and soaked.
