Hey Guys, I have been trying to figure out a couple of brake and suspension woes out, but then again thats what alot of us in the Midwest do during the Winter is dream of better weather and figure out what to do next on our cars. Anyhow I am thinking that I would really like to have a parking brake on my 50 Chevy again, and the stocker will not work because of the Fenton headers, so no I am looking to the aftermarket for solutions. I looked around ebay for ideas and I found a universal kit from lokar, and no it does not bother me to put a brake on the floor by the Hurst shifter. But what other options are there out there?? I have a stock torque tube rearend in the car, its a 54 PG unit-but stock, and I would like something simple to hook up and use...so any good ideas would be great!!! Thanks!!
Maybe you could rescue a lever type from a wreck, for what it's worth you could save a lot of money by using a few non Lokar parts, they have the whole thing but you could pick and choose, that handle will get you spanked at the hunnert and any non billet events and it's not cheap.
Dimebag, use a parking brake from a Dodge Dakota=very cheap=5-10 bucks.EASY to mount on left kick panel area(3 bolts) and cover with new kick panelUse steel wrapped cable to connect to frame area below. I have it on my 50 Fleetline=no prob. Fly
You have any pics of the dakota install? Curious to see how it looks. Debating something like this with mine right now.
