i need some for my diamond t. kind of aircraft looking, with a big square aluminum buckle and tan colored canvas-like webbing. the chrome buckle/nylon webbing ones just don't do it for me. i had a set in a 55 buick wagon that i stupidly let go with the car. does anyone have a source?

i may have to go that way. pretty close, but the duller aluminum buckles have an older look.

I know it a dreaded "import", but I had a 71 Datsun 510 that had those style lap belts. Might wanna try the wrecking yard.

  12. I found these that were missing the original webbing.

unfortunately, boeing surplus closed up a while back.
the julianos belts are kind of what i want, square buckle and all, but i'm holding out for square aluminum buckles and natural canvas color belts. searching "aircraft seat belts" on ebay may eventually turn some up.

Be careful with belts advertised as "WWII", most are not. Best way to tell a WWII belt from a postwar model is to look for cotton webbing (used until at 1955 or so). Nylon belts are modern.

I'll try and dig through my stuff, and see if I have a matching pair for you. I know I have exactly what you're asking for, just not certain if I have a pair. The Muntz Jet was either the first, or one of the first to actually put belts in their cars (as a marketing gimmick, not for safety), so mine would be from the very early fifties.

Seat belt webbing made before 1955 probably doesn't have the original breaking strength. Meaning in a wreck they might break and hurt you. So see if you can find modern webbing to go in those old belts.

What about using the Juliano's belts and then scuff the finish to look older? That way your webbing isn't old and rotten. Might look right and be safe as well?

Snake Oyl also sells new seat belts with the old style buckles. They are polished chrome as standard, but they can also provide them with a brushed chrome finish. http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/ I just did a little searching and found this source: http://www.andoauto.com/SBL1-1N.htm, they also have a satin finish buckle available.
