Well....it's a rainy day. No workin on the Riv today.....so I figure it's time to start posting up the few pictures I do have and tell a little about what I've been doin. Here's when i first got the 600 dollar gem home. Now.....some of the things I'm doing here may be considered "unorthodox" or "sac-religious". Don't burn me too bad. A budget is a budget..... The first thing I did was tear apart the top half of the engine. Lots of hot baths, polishing, seals and gaskets, etc etc. Here's when I got her put back together. NEW: TA212 cam, 2 row Edelbrock timing chain, lifters, valve seals, heads polished.....you get the idea.
Next came some E-fans. Out of a early 2000s Buick. $25 at the junkyard!! Started doing stuff like custom wires, a new coil, and a points eliminator kit. Next came gutting her out. The original interior was BEAT!!! so it got pulled and I found a newer interior on CL for $100
Little floor pan fixin'..... and custom fabbin some seat brackets... Here's the new seats installed as of yesterday. comfort approved....
Little stuff here and there to keep me busy.... welded up some exhaust adapters to jump straight to 2-1/2" right out of the manifolds. making fibergl*** sail panels.....my first FG experiment! ProComp pump wired and plumbed. Once the rain stops and the beautiful Colorado sun comes back...I'll snap some more and keep postin. Thanks for lookin!!!!
sorry stu but if you can type i figure you can read.pre 64 only.as much as i like you car and what your doing this isnt the place.
I like it more than I thought I would. Should look cool when it's done, rock on! I love 63-65 Rivieras, but a $600 would be very grim looking.
my 67 has never been posted here out of the year rule. This is where I post about my 53 or 47 but nothing newer than 64 here. You may try Los Boulevardos site.
The rules that we agreed to when we signed up to this board makes it the magic #. Unless its a drag car which still bugs me but not my rules
I gotta weigh in here. I have a 67 for sale & wasn't allowed to post it in the cl***ified as it was too new. I have seen other cars in the same year bracket listed But was noted they looked like models(body styles) of makes that were older. This body style is very close/similiar to the earlier rivys so give the guy a break. Rest my case.
The rules are cl***ifieds are pre 65... forums are traditional hot rods and customs... Even Ryan will post something built after 1964 ... every now and then...
I also have a 67 Rivi. If you start posting on a different site about your bulid please pm me where. Keep up the good work. Great looking car. Rick
Lotsa memories growing up, riding around in our 66 Rivi. Should have never sold that car. You need to find some original seats. They are very cool 6 way power seats.
Okay...here's the thing. I don't wanna ruffle any feathers. Rules are rules. I get it. Before knowing the pre-64 rule, I gained a wealth of knowledge and inspiration from this site. I lurked forever, and have about 20 different threads saved in my computer's "favorites". Finally decided to join, and after hangin around for a bit, decided to post my project. I feel I do a lot of the same things you guys do. Custom fabbing stuff, digging for obscure parts, and making things work that in most cases.....would not. I do belong to V8Buick.com as well....but I feel like a lot of the things I do are considered "unorthodox" over there. I love my Rivi.....but an OE rebuild is not in the budget. I want this thing to be mine.....and running/cool for as inexpensive as possible. Like I said before though....I get it. Rules is Rules. If I'm gonna upset people....I'd rather post elsewhere. Didn't mean to get anyone rattled, and I apologize. I'll keep on this one.... and hopefully have that 1950 Buick I've always wanted someday......
66/69 Rivis are as cl***y as it gets. nothin wrong w/ them. This said, you really have a car that many guys would kill to own and turn into something special. Thos seats are fugly, any beaten oem interior is better than one taken from a 80s/90s ****box, so please, take this car back to its former glory, it deserves it.
