Hi, If the problem is only entering have you thought about having a section of the roof over the rear doors raise (hinge) after the doors are open. So he would gain some head room for entering.

If the rear door height is an issue, when you raise the skin, make the back resemble the rear roof scoop like a '58 chev, only a little bigger. Then you can open up the rear for entrance clearance. See the attached pic. The red dotted line would be the new door mods. Sorry for the crappy sketching, just wanted to get the idea across.

Merc -- The builder thought of that but then the issue of water leaks. We currently have a full size van with a Turtle Top and that leaks every now and then.

Tinman -- thanks for the offer but I am not sure if working on the chair might void the warranty. It is an expensive chair and we rely on help from tech support to deal with the Bluetooth issues we have every now and then. Another thing is it has some kind of gel batteries below the seating system and the seat platform can't be moved any lower see pic.

Sinister -- The builder thought about going this route and kept referencing a toy from the 60s that looked kind of like that but then they raised the concern of structural integrity.

So they recommended going with dropping the floor 4 more inched to where the floor is just above the center of the rear axle. Then adding the Air Ride system to lift it up when we drive.

If money is no issue (I'm sure it is) Cadillac Northstar v8 with front wheel drive, then put trailer torsion rear suspension. Would free up a lot of space.

No new updates. The ride is back in storage. Things went south with our builder and we had to bring our ride home and reassess where we are and what we need to do to get this done.

We are going to have to look for another builder to finish this project. It is not by any means on the back burner. I have to get this finished and cruising with my son in it ASAP. We are racing against time and a health condition that results in a short life span for my son.

I am running out of time so I am pressed to fulfill his dream of having his own hot rod.

Hopefully we can get back in a shop and being worked on this summer.

I thought this was an ingenious solution for what you've described....

    UPDATE!
We found a new builder that has taken on the task. He has been building cars for quite a while and is a stand up guy. We took the panel to his shop to reassess what we need and what we have to work with. He told us the floor cannot go any lower so we will have to work on the roofline like it has been mentioned above.
The roof is going to be sectioned at the entrance just above the doors.
The floor will be cut and leveled off to be smooth. This will make it easier to for my son to turn and exit facing outward.

New concept for paint has beed redone as well. See last pic.

    More updates as they develop.
