Customs Time to make the 51 mine sorta build thread....

  1. I'm beginning to think you just love to weld on stuff. You sure do get a lot of practice don't you? Definitely looks better and a Hell of a lot more usable.

I liked it as a hard top but I love it with the pillars back in. This car is going to be great. Keep at it

  3. Great fix. That looks a lt better.

It was going to be just the roof, but there was alot of surface rust under the beltline stainless on the doors and it went down pretty far...I just couldnt leave it lol . I got a set of the cool Pontiac beltline trim with the car that I will put on ...id rather not take it off again to fix the rust so I figured I would do it the first time...sound familiar haha! I was thinking of a flake job ? on the roof...now I gotta come up with something cheap for the lower half of the body, I dont want to do anything pricey cause I have some more kustom work planned and it will all eventually have to get stripped.

Steve I think you get more done in one weekend than some of us do in months. You're making us all look bad.

Damn, that's a major improvement. I liked the hardtop but that setup was just too strange. You should take some serious pride in your work, and in only a few days too.

The worst thing you can do is see something you don`t like. Next thing you know the floors are cut out of it and your into another project. I know first hand about this.lol. Something cheep for the bottom!! Doing the top in flake!! clearing it! water sanding! clear! buff!! Man there 500 bucks right there.lol Pick up some RM satin clear and put some cool color in cheep base on the car and clear it,done. no water sanding or buffing!! it would be cool to have fun with it but your think of your time and the big thing money. I can`t find time to change my mind!!lol

Much better, wierd fix on the wing window when you bought the car, like the overall look and putting the pillars back in was the right move.

Thanks James! (and everyone else!) I would have loved to try the photoshop you did for me, but I think it would have been a costly and labor intensive project...and I just wanna drive it till I get the 47 on the road ...I do have a couple of other rusty relics around that would look good with that rendering:D

Fitzee ,its just gonna be some duplicolr lacquer , flat clear on the bottom, maybe white or silver flake on the top ...nothing fancy, expensive or too costly lol!

    Hey Steve!

You sure do jump in with both feet. :)
Congrats on being strong-willed enough to not go further with the project for now. Must have been tough. ;)

You are making it look even "gooder"!

Thanks guys! I will get some more pics up by the end of the weekend, gotta car show and small swap meet sat am , but should have it in primer by sunday I have been slinging mud and sanding every night this week, its been pretty tedious cause just about all of it is small curved areas but its almost ready for prime....gonna do the roof a shiny pearl white and the body a satin dark green metallic ..I think lol! Just gonna do a quickie with the duplicolor lacquer it eventually needs to be stripped completely and I dont want spend the money for decent paint only to strip it off in a couple of years.....
