Hey all, just wanted to know who's out that way. Specifically between Stillwater and Norman. I found out i'm gonna be moving to Oklahoma in July. I'm gonna be in Norman, OK and my girl's gonna be in Stillwater. Just trying to find some kindred souls, and find out what kind shows and swaps are going on.
Join and post this on the Oklahoma social group they have alot of good people on there. hope this helps
Lots of us on the Okie Hamber Social group. Look us up when you get here and welcome to Gods Country.
Oklahoma is great place. very laid back. You are central to lonestar roundup and KKOA in salina and the awesome dewey show in may. The ratty *******s have a cool show in okc in august too. You'll move here and think its the land of lifted 4x4's first but you'll find the true gear heads with little effort. Lots of good iron here too northern guys are envious. Red dirt usually equals small rust behind tire wells. two wagons I've got in recent months
Looks like i'm gonna have a great time in Oklahoma. Good humor, plenty of cheer, great cars hidden in the country side. can't wait. Looks like i GOTTA bring my 56 buick now. I'll be sure to bring some beer and a few of my body hammers
Where is Stillwater? Hehe! Oh yeah, look for this thing driving around (the one in the foreground not the newer truck in the background) and provide beer....... Lots of it. And if you happen to frisbee golf or mountain bike, that would be even better.
Dirk, i used to play frisbee golf in college. I could be persuaded to pick it up again. In terms of housing, how much should we expect to spend per month for a rental? I need at least a single stall garage too, if i'm gonna bring my 56
Just can't stay put huh Rocco. The best part about Norman OK is it's somewhat cose to Texas. Good luck with the move.
Come on down. Welcome to Norman, you will fit right in. PM me when you get here. Check out a Car Club I am in. Saturday Coffee usually have 17 to 20 cars. Join in the fun. http://www.canadianrivercruisers.com/
I live in OKC from '01-'05 My 2 biggest gripes were the toll roads and the property taxes were a bit higher than what I was used to and thought they needed to be. When i was there the schools were not too great but i think they have improved other than the hillbillys who got drunk and tried to burn down my house becouse I had my Texas Longhorns flag up during a game the people are wonderful in Oklahoma Great hospitals in OKC & Norman but hopefully you wont need those. lots of great restaraunts across the state No auto inspection Honestly if it were not for state income tax and my in laws disfunction we would prolly still live in Oklahoma. i still own land in western Ok and that area is great as well
I've lived in both Stillwater and in Norman while in college. Greatful for the experience! Good things in a college town. Oklahoma is a such a poor and backward *** state but there are plenty good folks out there! So Welcome!
well, i went out there a few weeks ago and found us a place to stay in Stillwater. I'll be commuting to Norman for a few months till i can find a job and afford another rent. As a grad student i only need to be there 2 times week. so that will help. I should be at the Okie Twist off to hopefully meet a few of you and put a name to a face. Silent Rick: have no fear, i have a trailer for Katie's little Civic. I'll be able to bring back plenty. Vettes2: PM sent
I love Oklahoma, grew up in Tulsa, also lived in Bartlesville. Lots of western history, plus the most miles of Route 66 still intact.
Moving to Oklahoma in July? From Florida? Well, the humidity will be about the same, just add about 10-15 degrees! Kidding aside, it's a great place to call home-welcome from Tulsa!
thanks guys. we're getting pretty excited about the move. Codeblu: i don't suppose you got room to haul another car out there, do ya? well, actually just a rolling ch***is.
You might want to buy a house with a storm shelter, just saying they have a couple of storms a year there. Good Luck
