I'm doing good, thanks for asking. Im glad to see you are still at it, it's coming along nicely! chop it, chop it, chop it! haha, just messing with you. Keep at it bro!

  2. Thanks Sam . I have seen him before . Thats the ultimate look but I think I will go 2'' 1/2''- 3'' on my chop we'll see . I am a ways from that point yet . LOL !!

  3. While I've been waiting for bodyfill to kick off, I am in the process of making the pots that the rear tailights will be frenched into . I will have to put a drain tube on the bottom portion to let water drain during washing and rain . I dimpled the plates to accept the tailight backplate . They have bulged bolts on the retaining plate so I had to make room for that . I used 18" longboard paper to get the length needed for the opening . I will fit a piece in the bottom with the tube installed once I make that up . Just a couple hours tonight as I am still working on that damn room downstairs . It should be done in one more week . Thats it for now .

Buckets look good! Is that a piece of Texas I see in those pics?? Haha. I'm sure you probably already noticed, but since you only have one light I wanted to make sure you noticed the curve is different on each side of the light. It threw me off a couple of times. Keep up the good work, its looking great!

Looks good, keep up the good work! :)

  6. Yea Rob indeed you are right , that is a little piece of Texas you see there . Look familiar ? I know what you mean about the shape of the body . I noticed it and it will be set correctly. Thanks for the heads up . The main part of the quater is almost in primer .
Also thanks Nikkke for the encourageing comments. Andy..

  7. Just a small update . I have one french bucket done . I like it but the peanut gallery came in last night and said that it was too deep . What do you guys think ? It is 2 3/4 " deep . Andy.. Oh yes I hung the other door last night as well . It fit well with good gaps surprisingly, seeing that the car has sat since 1968 . I dont know how long that the car was in pieces but ,the guy I got it from had it at least 5 years and it was all torn apart when he got it . Andy..

  9. It looks good.

Do you happen to have a subscription to The Rodders Journal??? The reason I ask is there's an article on a chopped '54 Chevy with frenched '50-'51 Ford taillights and it looks fantastic. They weren't frenched too deep and the taillight lens actually keep the flow (curve) of the fender in a nice perspective.

I think it looks ok, I thought I had a better side shot of mine but I cant find it. If you look at my car from the side, you can see about 1/4" of lens sticking out past the hole in the fender, I did it like that so the curve of the lense kinda keeps with the flow of the fender.

I dont if you dont! Its your car, remember? I like them recessed deep, however I was trying something different to achieve a certain look. The bucket was originally 4" deep and then I changed my mind and moved them out. If you like them, leave them alone! Personally I think they look good!

  16. It may be a bit too deep for me, but like robleticia stated, "it's your car".

You've made some fantastic progress on your Buick and I marvel at your skill in replacing rust (air) with metal. You have a vision for the end product so stay true to your vision.

  17. Thanks boys for your input . I was just saying to another guy on here the other day and told him to follow his vision because there will always be people with a different opinion than yours and you are the only one that really needs to be pleased. I guess I need to follow my own advice ehh! But thanks for your input boys . My wife thinks that its to deep to ( I dont here that much around here LOL!!! ) Andy...

  18. Another small update . I started to rebuild the front bodymount of the Buick . I need to start somewhere . I am going to have to lift the rear of the body a few inches and I need the front to be close to where it will be so it dont pull back on frame when I lift the backend . If I dont do this first it throws the whole alignment of the body off and what a pain in the ass that is , measuring all over again . This is as far as I could get tonight . I know it dosen't look like much at his moment hopefully I will have it done tomorrow if I can steal away a few hours for the Buick . We'll see .

  19. Been on holidays this week :) and I spent the best part of today on the buick . I got both front bodymounts made up today . They are lined up with bolts but not nutted yet as I may have to lift the body more yet . I need to brace the firewall to someplace on the front frame to keep the body aligned at the same distance . Andy.. The last picture sucks I know but it was an attempt at the old and new mount for the drivers side ...

Looks good Andy! I remember how glad I was when I finally had the 47's body attached and in the correct place, nice part of the build to be done with!

hay more updates, cool.at least someone is moving forward!!

  23. Thanks boys for the words . Maybe tomorrow i will have another productive day who knows . Gotta repair my mailbox and probably have a few beers in the process. That will slow me down for sure . But what are holidays without a few beers ??? Anyway I will move on to the A pillar body to frame supports . Those shouldn't take to long to do . And I think that I will put some body to frame supports at the B pillar as well . Hope to get that all done in the next 2 days . I will be back to work on Sunday .... BOOO !!! Jan my advice is take it all out and start from scratch . Take it from me . Trying to weld half rotten sheetmetal is just frustrating to work with . Dont get discouraged though . If this hobby was easy then everyone would be doing it . Keep at you'll get there . Andy..

  24. Got the A pillar post supports done today . Have a look. Disregaurd the stack of washers as my bolts are to long . I guess I will have to exchange them . I got into some trouble today as I cut out the supports that were tying the car together . I welded new ones at different places after the door opening but I failed to remember to weld the opening with a brace and when I cut the supports the body opened up so much the latch completely missed the striker. I thought OH OH !! I just f$%^*ed up all my work . Then after an hour it finally dawned on me !! You didn't put a brace in idiot . I used comealongs to pull the body back together then welded the needed brace and everthing was OK whew that close. I was shitting bricks for a while there . All part of the game though isnt it ? I am sure some of you hambers have similar issues on builds . Andy

  25. haha... been there dude. did it once on a customer's car.... BIG no-no. Comealong usually fixes it. Looks good. may i make a suggestion though.... rather than have a hole on the side of the frame rail to get the nut on, why not drill the hole on top of the frame a bit bigger and weld in a flange nut. it works really well, and makes for a cleaner application. Just an idea. looking good though. keep it up, brother

  26. Thats a good idea Rocco thanks . When I get to the point of body removal that will be the time to deal with these sorts of things . If I recall right your car was in storage . Is it still or have you moved it to your new place ? Andy..

  27. getting close to d-day. i move to OK at the end of june. then the car comes out of storage. stay tuned.

Bad move getting rid of it, but at least it's going to someone who really wants it.
