Well, since the motor is in & out, I wanted to check all the suspension out. There hasnt been any problems, but I wanted to replace all the fasteners with new grade 8 stuff. That salt gets everywhere . Dont want to be thinking about that stuff, going down the track !

My partner Colin, [ NO, not life partner! ] Checking everything out.

So, time to start putting everythig on the motor to check for clearances, and what will need to be changed. We found a nice GMC chrome valve cover at the swap meet, nice score. Also, we are running a Vertex magneto.

The injectors we got with the motor are homemade, hope they work. We might send them to Hilborn to flow them & and check everthing out. they do look nice though! The headers will be re-routed down under the frame.

That's as cool as it gets !!

  10. Rocky, I like the look of the injectors! More than that, I like the idea of getting Hilborn to check them out. See if they can offer suggestions as to the optimum length of the stacks.

Would Hilborn want the head too? By the looks of it there has been a Maddog Porter in there. I'd want to know how that head flows. Injectors do what they do, it's the intake ports that need the problem solving. It looks like you intake ports are HUGE!! Awesome!!! Still Jealous!!!

This setup was how we purchased it from a running dragster. It is just a test motor until the Blown-injected GMC is done for next year. As of now, we only have $139. left in the racing fund ! :D

  15. " Ok here is a chance for you guys who want to be a part of Bonneville but can't field a car or motorcycle. I have about 15 names of folks who donated time, talent or $$ to my project and want to be a part of what we are doing. Sounds like Rockey might use a little help in the $$ department. Anyone game?"

  16. You are not the only one, we are from running The Spirit of South Dakota but have had HUGE help from HAMBers in parts and pieces!

Hi Rockey, I'm Ted Bowen and built your roadster and ran it with an Ardun engine. The last time I ran the car was in 1995 and set the record. If you would like I will post some pictures when I run the car. Thanks Ted

Well, time for a quick update. I have been thrashing on the car between work, family, etc. August is right around the corner. Got the Tex T101 trans installed. It was a little bigger than the Muncie I used for the mockup. I had to modify the crossmember to make it fit. We had a new driveshaft made from a Nascar- E-Bay purchase. 4" heavy duty. Also had to raise the loop to clear.

  24. I was hoping to have three or four "test and tune" sessions at the local drag strip by now. Tomorrow I go to pick up my carbs ( again ). One side of my exhaust is fabricated and being welded up ...... hope to have them by Wednesday and then it is go, go , go and try to get some kind of pre run in before we leave........... Why does it always come together at the last minute ?
