I usually take my current project out of winter storage at the very first of April. A good friend lets me store it in his pole barn about 15-20 miles from town and the barn has a dirt floor. Man! A car can get dirty in there for 5 or 6 months! Today, I finally got up enough energy and spare time to go get my 41 Pontiac coupe out of the barn. I checked all fluid levels before firing it up and only had to add a little brake fluid. The flathead 6 leaped to life after about 10 seconds of cranking the 6 volt starter with my gigantic 12 volt battery.
I drove the ol girl home [my buddy following me said I was doing 64-69 MPH in a 55!]and gave it a good bath in the driveway. I used it to run a few errands and even drove it to a local cruise night but there was only 1 car there...a fellow club member with a black 57 Bel air hardtop...
I slid past Hiboy 32's house and bs'd with him for awhile before driving home..
Man, I love driving an old coupe......
Summer has officially come to the midwest!

  2. Very cool man! What are the plans for it this year? Changes? Upgrades? You said something about Janet getting it?

Hey T........while it still runs/drives, I'm gonna cruise the wheels off it while I build my 55 chevy pickup. After I get the truck goin, it goes into the garage for the nova front, 389, muncie 4 speed and 57 Poncho rear axle. Mrs Rocky can cruise her 300-M....

The coupe's lookin' like it needs some serious miles on it...I can send you a Bologna Nat's entry form if interested.

Don't have to be in the same county to use the YOM plates???

Hey Rocky , thanks for stoppin by. I have been too busy to keep in touch with any body out side of work or home. My wife generously donates her time to charities and sometime my time is included. So I 'volunteered' some of my time this week end. It was sure nice to see you and your hotrod out today.

  11. damn, I love that thing.

Good to hear it's out and about again Rocky.

    Cheers

Bahahahahahaha! Damn, Dean! I didn't know you saved that old photo.
I had my chance last summer to speak to the rambler but I'm over it now. She's all yours.
Jeff....was good to see you today...maybe you oughta come with me to the bologna nats in Pella, Iowa. fordy6 lives there and he and the boys put on a nice rod run....Jangle guy can come with me again too. We attended this event one year in my 48 Pontiac fastback and were made to feel very welcome...put us up in a pop-up camper when we found all the accomodations were full for the weekend......very nice people in Pella.....

Hey, Rocky, maybe we could use the B. nats as a pre-hamb drags warm up.Ive been going to that show for many years, hell of a good show and nice people.I missed it last year, but going to try and have the coupe going early this year.I was talking to a buddy, that has a chopped 48 ford, he goes every year, maybe I can tag along with him and some other buds and we could have a small hamber get together there.

Rocky, congrats on getting the old girl fired up and back on tthe road. I got plates and insurance for the '32 on Friday (we were supposed to have a breakfast thing today with all of the GMBs but as Beatnick posted we got dumped on with the white stuff overnight). It shouldn't last long as we are usually done with snow by the 1st of July.  :)

Anyway, take a couple of turns around the block for us.

    Frank
