    Hello all,

I was looking for advice from some of the older hot rodders', who have been doing this since before my time, such as to clip or IFS kit?

Where to start? the frame? body panels? rust repairs?

    1951 chevy truck

The goal is its going to be my truck forever so its got to be done right.

It has a 2nd gen camaro clip under now which today i have found a stock frame to trade out so i can go with an IFS.

Future looks like an LS truck running gear.

I will be going off to the drilling fields soon so budget will be kinda loose under 20k.

Assuming you were born in the 80s (ifs) I'am an ol'timey square.

....ground up. Like a house.. foundation, frame/drivetrain, then the rest.

If it's got a Camaro clip, it already has IFS. If the installation is sound, keep it.

My advice is to get truck mechanically safe and reliable, then start rust repair.

Drive the wheels off of it, and enjoy every minute.

Its a 1979 camaro clip has almost all of the curve left in the sub frame, if I keep this frame it will be hitting road reflectors...

  10. i like to do all the fabrication in the "raw" state. allows for adjustment and proper fit. get everything on the body sturdy and aligned, chassis mods fabricated and tested. then rip it all apart body work and paint wiring upholstery etc..

A popular swap for the AD trucks is the S10 frame . There are many threads here on Hamb covering this . Do a search and use the threads as a reference . If you go to www.ad-engineering.com , you'll see a company offering products and advice for such a swap ! Good luck and keep us updated !

Amen. I thought we were going to be talking dropped axles, split bones, quickchanges and flatheads. Repost asking for help from the fng's. You'll get all the s-10, air bag, zz4 ls info you need for your style build.
