55 Caddy Gas/tail lamp

I just purchased a 55 Caddy Sedan and the left tail light ***embly that snaps down over the gas cap will not latch.
I think there may be something missing in the mechanism. Does anyone have a 55 they can snap a picture of for me for reference?

The lamp wont snap down into place. The reflector push ****on works freely but I cant determine what if anything is missing or broken.

On my 53 Cadillac series 62 on the lens side there is a spring loaded clip that holds the light down into place and when the ****on is pushed it releases it. I am goung to a friends house tonight, his dad has a 58 and I will see if it has the same type of mechanisim.

 

Hey 5belair7 snap a pic of what you have and we could point out what if anything is missing. I work in West Chester Pa and have both my 55 Caddy's down near Oxford Pa at a buds house if you need reference or help

 

I can check my 54 tonight and snap a picture after work. Same tail light as the 55
