Has anyone actually used the Bowler Transmissions automatic TV adjuster for a 700R4? I'm thinking of trying one, want to see if anyone else has actually bought one and tried it, and is it as easy as they claim it is. They used to have one for a Ford AOD also and I would love to try one of those since I've experienced some unpleasantness with 2 AODs in the past few years by not being able to get the TV cable adjusted properly. Would love to hear from anyone who has tried the Bowler kit. Thanks
I have used one on my 53 tin woodie. 350 chevy with 700r4 It was dead simple. seems to work good. all shift points work.
Depends on axle ratio and tire size. With your car sitting on the ground, tires inflated to proper pressure, mark a spot on the tire at the bottom and on the pavement, roll the vehicle one tire revolution and measure the distance the tire traveled in that rotation. Divide that measurement into 5280 ft (you may want to covert one or the other to the same unit of measure...i.e. inches). That will give you the number of tire rotations per mile. Multiply that number times your rear axle ratio and the product of that times the OD ratio (about .70 IIRC). That is what you will be turning at 60 mph. for example: tire travels 84 inches ...that is 7 feet. 5280 ft divided by 7 = 754 tire revs per mile..... 754 x 3.55 = 2677 x .70 = 1874 rpms at 60 mph I have rounded to nearest whole number to eliminate decimals/fractions, but the result is very close to actual for the ***umptions used. Your figures will differ depending on your tires and axle ratio and any correction to OD ratio. Ray
