Picked up a late 60's flatbottom with a nailhead buick. Anyone know of a site like the HAMB that deals in such things. Please don't blast me for the OT thing, I know some of the membership here crosses over Maybe just PM me?
Ryan actually started one of the many boat threads here on the HAMB. Simply do a search on here, and you might find more info than you thought possible http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130864&highlight=boat
Try these... SoCalJetBoats.com VintageJetBoats.com skagenboats.com Very knowledable and nice people there. I am a member at all three, and like MANY on here LOVE drag boats as much as Hot Rods and Customs!!!
There's a few boat threads on here...besides, your flatbottom is a hotrod!! Where'd you pick it up? Let's see some pics of it. You'll want to check these sites out: http://www.v-driveboat.com/ http://www.riverdavesplace.com/RDP/ http://www.narberthpa.com/Bale/bmp/index.html#lev0 http://www.v-driveboats.com/ Here a couple of pics of my old '65 Stevens with a Nailhead...I miss it!!
Okay, she's old and rough but a garage sale find at five hundy. Besides, that nailhead would be nice in my '29.....
5 bills!! WOW! I paid 2X's that for mine and it isn't ANYWHERE near as cool as yours!! That Nail would look nice in your '29 ---BUT--- it looks awsome in that Hot Rod on water!!! Please keep it in there. Wow again what a great score...Ken
The best Boat website on the net is Iboats www.iboats.com . There is a huge wealth of knowledge on that site for pretty much anything boat related . I have 3 classics a 1960 Cutter , a 1964 Crestliner and a 1970 Starcraft Jupiter . The group there has been a great help with every question I have been able to come up with . Oh yeah you thought Hot Rods were expensive HA HA HA boats will break you . Rick
Right on Artgeco! www.fiberglassics.com is very similar to HAMB... Does anyone know what the connection is between fiber and the HAMB?
That is one neat find. With the fixed cavitation plates I'd say it's more like an early 60's. If you'd like to find the history on your boat, there's 2 places you need to go...both full of experts... The v-drive section of performanceboats which is here: http://www.performanceboats.com/v-drives/ And as previously mentioned, http://www.v-driveboat.com/
GREAT BUY!! Do you know what the hull is?? heres a thread I started awhile ago. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281595
Thanks to all with the good info. I'll get to all those sites and check 'em out! This IPhone app is the schiznizzle!
Wow! Does it say "Canoga Park, California' on the back transom ? A coincidence, I live there now. I remember many people would have a painter put their "home port' on the back of their ski boats in the sixties. Interesting, that cavitation plate is so short, you may as well not even have one. It's too short to adjust "up", you can only push it down, and not by much either. That tandem axle trailer was "big time" for back then. I say, built it , keep it. It's a hot rod too.
A boat is a gap in the water that you try to plug with $$. This is a pic of a '53 Chris Craft that I am working on for a guy.
The ELF, built in 1888 and rebuilt an launched in 2008. Shes the oldest, active racing yacht in the US & 3rd oldest in the world.
I thought that holes in the water were there for ice fishing?? Woulda never thought of putting money in there!!
RiverDavesPlace.com There's a ton of knowledeable guys there, plus this time of year the board is really busy.
Yeah, good eye there! It does say Canoga Park, hand painted on the transom. The trailer seems "high dollar" for its time as the C channel iron is actually curved (like it was rolled) toward the tongue.
