found model a axle

I run a landfill for city I live in here in Texas. Some times I find some neet stuff. Today I guy dumped a trailor that has a model a axle. It has some crap welded to it for the srings and shocks. Is it worth it to save it or is all the work to cut the crap off and grind the welds down make it not woth any thing.

 

Nope, not worth a thing. Send it my way and I'll take care of it for you.

 

Model A axles were used around here for driving down pump pipe...and they work very well..for that.

 

Here in my area, an A axle with welded stuff is scrap value. A good bare axle is not worth much either.

 

Clean it up and send it to Nostalgia Sid. He'll drop it and you can build a car around it.

 

Thats what I was thinking. It dont look to bad just that crap welded on it. It still has every thing on it they just welded it so the wheels would not turn.

It will probably just go in the scrap pile. To much work for what its worth. You would be amazed what I find out there. My miller mig I picked up out there. Ans I find tons of car parts.

 

Build a new trailer around it.

 

Its a crapy old home made boat trailer.

 

Take the time to cut some stuff off, grind a little, paint it. Hang it inside or outside of your house or garage and call it Art. I'm still not sure what art is, but that might be it. Art may be of some discussion value if others don't recognize what it is.

 

No early ford axle is scrap, i clean and polish them all the time. If it is too damaged to run, they make great down tubes for choppers or any number of other items

I'd agree that none of them are scrap unless someone did some serious hacking on them.

I'd haul it home just to see if I could clean it up and get it looking good. It might take a few cut off wheels to clean up the scabs and cut the spindles off but what the hell, you can't hurt the thing no more than it has already been hurt. I've got an early 30's Chevy axle that someone did the same thing to and I am going to play with it one of these days just to see if I can clean it up.

 

I might see what I can do with it. I will just put it with the rest of the good crap I find out there. Its amazing how wasteful people are they throw away good stuff.

 

The two I have arnt scrap.

as long as they are not cut into or fuckd up beyond belief, they can be used

 

I got a dropped T axle that was under a trailer. they had ground on it so the ubolts they had would fit. Old Dropped T's are rare so I spent a few nights Tig it back into usable condition. Stock A axles go for $ 25. not worth messing with a bad one. around here.
