I have a C4 and it shifts hard and takes a while to shift from gear to gear, it down shifts hard as well? Should the modulator valve be hooked up to vaccuum that increases with throtle or constant vaccuum? I have edlebrock carbs and I do not run a kick down. The trans works fine otherwise. Thanks

I can't speak to specifics, but in generalities, you do NOT want to run it for any period of time out-of-tune. There's about an 1/8ths of a gnat's ass worth of friction material in there and it takes almost nothing to burn through it.

  3. Modulator should see manifold vacuum. It's there to gauge how hard the engine is working.

99% you have a modulator issue, yes, manifold vacuum, and you should be running a hard line except for the ends. Check for a cracked or broken hose where it goes into the modulator itself, and this hose should have a molded curve in it.

is the small pin behind the modulator in there? Mine did similar things and when I pulled the modulator there was no link pin. did some googling and made one from piece of weld rod, all better now.
