I found these old photos on my lunch hour today. They are about 4.25" x 2.5", much easier to look at on the screen then in person. I thought they were cool as heck and the price was right. Maybe they are reproductions or maybe they are a rare piece of history... I dunno. Numero Uno.... This is the back of the above picture. Looks like; "Hair Pin Curve" "Elgin" 8/21/14" Here's the rest.... I'm curious to see what you guys have to say about them.
GREAT! You need to post them on the Race Cars 1894-1944 thread, someone over there will ID the cars. Thanks for posting them. Bob
..... I shoulda known to do a search... Some way cool stuff over on that thread.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=380814
You should find someone with photoshop on their computer. They can scan the pic and clean it up to really give good detail. Great photos.
Dude, those are amazing!!! Did you find those locally? Where? Elgin... The only Elgin I can think of is Illinois. Those are some seriously large classic race cars too, no "T" speedsters in that lot. Great find!
Scored them in downtown Glendale in one of the "antique" stores. I almost walked out because it was filled with brand new crafty kitchen type stuff and re-pops. The mystery is also pretty well solved. I'll quote Kurtis from the other thread....
Man...the HAMB is like some giant ingenious computer that knows every friggin' thing about every friggin' thing...again. lol. Cool pics.
Made them a little brighter and bigger. Some spots are rough, and need some serious work to make nice. Last pic, it appears to be a motorcycle changing the tire, with a guy holding a rifle and what appears to be a tommy gun. What were these guys doing?
Elgin Road Race shots, judging by the notes on back. I live in Elgin. Done rode the route. Rough stuff back in the day. And a National points race, too. Cosmo
