I bought this car in Dallas on March 1st.
It barely ran....It would barely move....it smelled like piss...

When we got it to Houston we started to tear it apart.

The Radiator was held in with tie wraps. The grill was just sitting in the frame and was "secured" to the upper radiator hose with bailing wire.

    Fixed that stuff.

    Had the leaking radiator repaired.

We fixed the lights, horn, and traced all the pertinent electrics to make sure they were fixed. We had the wiring harness strung all over the garage.

I was told that it had a broken shock mount. I verified it. I didn't notice that the upper control arm for that side was broken at the frame....along with the shock mount....which meant that the drivers side rear end was held with one bolt.

    Fixed that stuff.

I thought I was close to done. That is until I changed the spark plugs....and the flex plate started grinding on the starter. Three starters in a week and a half and figured I needed to pull the engine anyway.

Thought about changing the SBC our for something else at that point. Family talked me out of it since this was my first Hot Rod project in almost 15 years. Rebuilt the SBC. Rebuilt the carb.

Last weekend we got the engine put back in. Got it running on Tuesday. Tweaked and twisted and fine tuned everything I could before today.

...and yes it got hosed in very flat black. That stuff is good for hiding all the bodywork which will get done.

    A little timing...
    A little adjusting...
A little water in the radiator seeing as how I forgot to fill the damn thing...

I finally took the first of many test rides this afternoon. w00t!

Congrats on getting it running....and isn't it nice to know that you're not going to see another one at every rod run and cruise that you go to? :D

It was not so much "work ethic" as it was "obsessing" to get it running.

My wife has started calling it "the bitch in the garage".

    The coolest thing?

Every issue I had...every little problem....was answered with the search function on this board.

    So thanks to everyone!

That's a fine looking body style. Look good with the fenders or without!
