I just picked this up today. An old guy had it and gave it to a guy in my dads club and he knew I have been wanting something like this so we made a deal and now its mine and i dont know what it is or where to start....please help...I have the cab, front fenders, hood and hood sides and thats all....It is pretty solid too.....THANKS JAMIE
Look in the hinge pillars of the cab...do they have wood in them? If so, it's a late 36 chevy. [early 36's still used the tall, square top of '35's] If not, it's a 37-8 chevy...here's a photo or 2 of my old late 36.....
Yea it has wood in it.....Where should I start? What frame should i get...suspension?....Any suggestions on chopping channeling or anything like that...i just want to make it COOL..haha...JAMIE
cool looking project..... don't know what your looking for but if memory is correct a s10 frame will fit like a glove...
s-10 frame channeled flush with bottom of the doors, roof chopped 2 inches , back window left stock size but lowered 1 inch and rasied 1 inch. fenders and hood , aftermarket bed from a 32 ford shortened 6-8 inches .use some kind of trailer or tire ring for rear fenders, paint it some dark non metalic color and add lettering to the doors and tailgate.
I'd say Slag nailed it...look for his upcoming book: "How to Build a Cool Hot Rod in 75 Words or Less!!"
guys Jamie worked on this project till dark last night, couldn't get it in shop so he worked on it in the driveway.
