I have been lurking around on this forum for some years now, but never had a car project that would fit this forum. I have building alot of aircooled Volkswagens since I was 18 (Im 25 now). Right now I have a Karmann Ghia, 1966 bug convertible and a 21 window splitbus. Cool cars, but since I was a little kid I have always wanted a 1949-54 Chevy.

Last year I bought a 1949 Chevrolet 3600 truck from North Carolina. It's a good project but needs tons of work before I get it like I want it. So a couple of days a ago I went on a 300 kilometer long trip to pick up a 1951 Fleetline Deluxe. A deal was made and I drove it home! First time I bought a car that wasnt' digged up from the woods or came in parts/boxes. :) Cool!

The Fleetline was recently imported (I live in Sweden, Europe) from California, Long Beach. Before that it have been rollin in Texas. So it's a very dry and nice car, no serious rust at all anywere, never welded and no bondo, thats crazy! Previous owner (mexican name, cant remember now) seems to have been doing a lot of work on it thru the years, I guess it was many years ago tho. The engine and trans seems to have been worked on, painted and Wayne valvecovers etc. Interior looks great and the headliner have also been changed. Many accerories on it. New chrome! It have been repainted in the original green color many years ago, the paint looks shiney on the pics but it is pretty faded by the hot sun.

My first plan was to repaint it in a green candy color, but I really like the patina paint it have now too. So that will be a future thing to do maybe.
Otherwise I just want to drive and enjoy this car, it have just been thru the Swedish safty inspection so it drives and stops perfect. This will be a rolling project. I will post up pictures as it goes! Here is tha pics.

Congratulations, the cars looks like its in great shape and loaded down with goodies.

I'm not a big fan of candies on these cars unless there some other "flashiness" going on.
I think candies and the stock look don't mix. Drive the wheels off it for now, looks good as it sits. Probably gets lots of looks over in Sweden too.

Started to work on the trunk yesterday. It looked to be untouched since 1951, so wanted to fresh it up a little. Plans are to make some panels too, in grey fabric and put in a nice whitewall sparetire back in there again! Here are some pix, more will come...

Since Im not living in the US. I would like to know a website/company that have all parts i need for lowering my Fleetline. Save shipping costs.

I want these parts: 3"lowering blocks, dropped uprights/spindles, shocks and lower front coils/springs.

Okey guys some updates! Tonight I have been busy in the garage.

The car had a complete new exhaust, all the way! But with 4 mufflers it didnt sound very fun. QUIET...or is it me who is deaf? ;) So tonight I bought some straightpipes and a pair of chromed Harley Davidson fishtales.

WOW! What a difference, LOUD! It now have that nice lowrider rap sound. I will try to make a video some day. Fenton headers, dual Rochesters on Offenhauser intake etc. Here is some pics from the garage tonight...

Removed the old mufflers in the rear...

Put together the new straightpipe with a Fishtale. Lookin' good!

These will be the only mufflers left on the car. RaaaaAaaaappp

Love this ride man!! By the way if you want a kool fact about the name of your car, it is a song by Rosie and the Originals and it came out in 1960... I sing it to my 5 year old every night at bedtime.. Congrats.. Looks really clean the way it is..

Very nice Fleetline! I wouldn't do much else to it, just drive and enjoy. It was popular back in the '50's over here to name your ride with a popular song ***le, Angel Baby fits your ride just right.

Man, that's a sweet ride and a great song too. My first was a 51 Fleetline when I was a teenager. Same old story, wish I still had her!

Vackra bil vän, köra och njuta av det och lämna det som är utom för sanering och små rost reparation.

    lycka till!

Thanks for the nice comments guys!! Great links, found some real nice bomb pics/rides on there. Me like! Today I did some work under the hood on the Fleet. Cleaned up some old dirt and oil, cleaned carbs, painted the airintakes/filters, changed oil. Forgot the camera in the garage, pics will come.

Here is some photos on Volkswagens I have built from scratch thru the years, I have sold all except the 21 window samba splitbus (last pics):

Like you see, I am a big VW nut...I also have some projects, Ghia, type1 vert, 1958 type1, 1966 type 1. But the last year all I think about is old Chevys. Since is was a small kid I have dreamed about a low Fleetlines. Love the lines/design. Now I have one...and a bunch of VWs! :D Since 2004 I have been running this website, take a look: www.meanbugs.com
