Definately NOT a HAMBer

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Scooterville, Apr 25, 2005.

  1. I was surfing Cardomain for Elkys and found this one. After he bought it he removed the skirts and lifted the rear up and put Mullet boy wheels on it. AHH! Just thought i'd share.

I like the rake he put on it. Replace those un-stylish wheels with chrome reverse or 5 spokes and that car would look just fine. However, the lake pipes don't suit the new stance.

  5. wow how a car can go from nice to complete ASS... props to the new owner for ruining a sweet ride... way to go mullet boy!

Well, at least it used to look cool. I'll bet that car is very unhappy right about now.:(

I thought that treatment was reserved for '79 Elkys.

Those look like Champion 500s, which will be cool in 30 years when future Hambers want the era-specific look of 1984.

    just kidding

How is it "ruined"? He made some changes but he didnt cut it up..I dont like those rims either but it`s not my car and you never know that it wont ever get changed back at some point. After this can we go pick on the un-cool kids and maybe beat up some nerds so we can all feel better about ourselves?

I`m relaxed:rolleyes: Makes me think about when I was on the Chevytalk board and some guy posts a link to a nice 60 impala custom for sale on E-bay..everyone goes off on how they fucked that car up .I just think it`s funny how everyone has a different way to do a car(restoration guys, lowriders, traditional customs and even the mullet head guys)and everyone thinks their way is the only way...thats all:D

Yeah, those look terrible with the rear raised up like that. WTF was that guy thinking? Maybe if he painted it flat black and the rims red????

Hey maybe this guy is on some Mullet board talking about how he saved this Elky from some greaser or lowriding Vato.

... or maybe this is an evil plan perpetrated by the VW people in order to get us to fight amongst each other. Divide and conquer????

Is this car from the MIRROR UNIVERSE? Where else would a bitchen slammed Elky get "saved" and turned into a jacked up early 80s high school ride. Was Spock sporting the goatee? Was Uhura's skirt just a tad bit shorter? Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a barber! :D

It seems to me that only way we can have good discussions about Style and Construction, is if the HAMB regulates itself.
And the most efficient way to let these " look at this ugly piece of shit " threads die, is to not post on it.
The second most efficient way could be to turn it around into a meaningfull discussion about Style or Construction...
Like the "the pipes dont match the rake" comment...

He said it needed restoring, which, if it's anything like my 60, it may look fine on the outside but the foot wells are missing...
Just maybe he did save it from being a casualty of some "Bato" extreme hopping contest :(

I guess I'll never figure out why people post things like this. It's been said they just wanted to get other opinions. WHY!!! What difference does it make what others think about anything let alone how someone who isn't a member here chose to build/modify their ride? Now don't tell me you couldn't have just about predicted what the comments were going to be. This is the HAMB, you know, the message board dedicated to traditional rods and customs, and thank god a lot of people understand that. The rest just post an opinion, I feel, just to increase their post count or just add to the mob mentality that usually accompanies this type of subject. Has anyone ever noticed that the REAL rodders, the ones that use this forum for what it was intended, don't waste the space here joining in a pissing match about what someone else decided to do with their car?

In the couple of years I've been her I've seen a lot of talented, straight thinking people leave for no apparent reason. I wonder if this sort of juvenile drivel is among the reasons. Can you imagine the wasted space if Ryan allowed political debate? It's a scary thought.
Go build something, we'll be happy to rip you a new asshole for your efforts. Just remember what your mother said. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.":)

    "half empty or half full?"
...for every person that does that, it makes our cars look THAT MUCH COOLER!!!

Finally, an optimistic way to look at it...
