I am installing a BMW V12 in my hotrod. The other guys have taken a
6 cyl dist and mounted it on the front of the motor pointing forward I want to use a 90* gear drive an mount it vertical on the front of the motor. Is there a drive I can adapt? How did you do it. It will require a drive for both cams. You treat each side as a 6 cyl engine on a common crankshaft. Any ideas would be great. Rotate picture 3 it's sidways.
    Thanks Terry

Why can't you use the existing distributors? Looks like you have them and they are complete?

Suzuki Samurai's (not the bikes but the little 4wd trucks) used a right angle drive on the dist. Pretty small units but it might it might give you something to pattern off of.

I'm guessing you want to use the HEI style dizzy because you want to eliminate the factory computer. However, I'm betting you can probably use the original distributors and a pair of MSD boxes with advance tuning built in, and byp*** the complexity and potential reliability issues of the right angle gear drive, without the added length of the HEI style dizzy pointing forward. If you call MSD, I bet they could tell you the best way to use the originals without the computer.
If you are set on the right angle drive deal, look at vintage or MSD kits for flathead Fords. I've seen them, but I don't know anything about them - but that's something you'll probably find a lot more with with on this board...
Another option would be to add a helical gear (cut off of a an old cam from the same engine your HEI fits) to the front of the cams (just like some roller cams for vintage engines use a gear off of a normal cam, attached to the end), and build a little housing to mount the distributor upright. Almost all engines with vertical mounted dizzys have a right angle drive...

The engine is fuel injected and computer. I will use 6 carter yh carbs. I will check with MSD but think hei is simpler. also cheaper. Thanks for the input. Porkn****** thanks How did you do that or is it a secrate? If you tell me will you have to kill me?
