Anyone use these I found some for my 55 chevy pickup.I want to lower the rear of my truck a few inches and I am wondering if this is the way to go for a cheap *** like me.I know I could remove a leaf or two but this seams so much easyer to me.I don't haul anything in it so I'm not worried about it bottoming out or anything.thanx for the opinions guys

You may be refering to "lowering blocks", these are used commonly, and come in different sizes. "Shakles" were a common item to raise the vehicle back in the sixties and seventies..giving it a rake (jacked up in the rear look)..thankfully they seem to be a thing of the past these days.

On our chevy trucks the longer shackles do lower the truck, not raise it. It depends on whether the springs are above or below the axle. I have lowering shackles along with a few leafs pulled out of the back on my truck and if you don't plan to haul anything you'll be fine. You can nab the 2" shackle "kits" on evil bay for $49.

on those trucks the shackles being longer will lower it. Blocks would raise it.

    Watch the pinion angle....

I wouldn't mind raisig the front just al ittle to give it a g***er stance.I think I will go with shackles for the rear.and see how it sits without removing any leafs.I don't know what to do with the front I don't want to put blocks to raise it.

The shackles in the rear will definitely help you get rid of the stink bug stance on a budget. Performance Online (POL) has the shackels for $49. On the front suspension the most inexpensive option is to pull a few leafs from the spring pack. If you can spend a several hundered bucks you can buy lowering springs or a drop axle.

I said I wanted to rais up the front a little maybe 2 inches if that for that g***er look.but ya the shackles will be enough for the rear I think.I just don't want blocks on the front.just an idea I will lower the rear first for sure.

If you pull a few springs from the rear and add them to the front pack, you would probably get the look you're after. You would only need to buy new U-bolts.

I thought about that.I might try it because it don't ride like a caddy anyway.well see how it is when I lower the rear and then decide.

....my 55 p.u. had lowering shackles, I wanted it lower, so I flipped the rear hanger to the top of the frame so the shackles hang down, then used lowering blocks on the rear axle which is now on top of the springs...like this...
