    hello folks
i need someboddy to identify this steeringwheel column and box
it comes from a cleared yard full usa cars in belgium
i bought manny other parts from the yard owner to create a sort of salvageyard museum
those yards are verry rare here in europe
hope you all can help identify some parts

  3. The steering and shifter looks Chev' or some GM, but I'm a Ford guy. Interesting collection.

The steering box/column is '49 thru '54 Chevy.......but by the appearance of the wheel, I'd say '53 or '54.

I dont know Ray....I'm pretty sure you'd find the shifter on top of the column, not off to the side, on a chevy. And you'd also find a Saginaw steering box, not that one.

But I think you're right on the year.

nope- definitely not 49-54 chev, the mounting flange at the steering box is way different, i could be a truck column, but not p***enger car

As usual, you're correct on Chevy things-and they would have used Saginaw. That is definitely a Ross (note the pattern in the cover casting). Ross was used in "orphan" cars like K-F, Studebaker, Willys.

Wheel and column remind me of a 53 Nash I had once...never saw the steering box.

i'd love to come across a yard like that, most places around here have been picked clean of little pieces like that!

Jim, after reading your post and taking a second look, I'd have to agree with you.....I was mistaken. The shifter "box" looks exactly like the one in '49/'54 Chevs........the swing of the pitman arm matches, but everything else is wrong.......oh well........another humbling experience :D
