I have a stock 1928 Model A Tudor. I have a gas tank leak and I am considering installing a fuel cell instead of removing and repairing the tank. I also think a fuel cell mounted low would be safer than the 'dash board' fuel tank as well as being of better modern construction. Is there a place to mound a fuel cell on a stock Tudor that would be a 'clean' looking install? Frame in the back perhaps? Where would the fill go?? I have seen a trunk gas tank but I do not like the look of a trunk. I, of course, would go with a fuel pump too..... Looking forward to your ideas!!!! Thank you!
Do you want a back seat? There is always the 32 rear tank, and saddle tanks if you do not like the stock tank.
I do want to keep the back seat.... Where can I take a look at a set up for a 32?? Sounds interesting! Would a 32 tank be a direct fit on a 28??? Thanks!
This has been talked about here many times. There is no realy ideal place for the tank on an A, ex.. rear end collitions, side impacts... In my pickup I have a stock tank and it seems best if you dont mind the fumes but you can get a good repop gauge and pet**** and minimize that. So find a good original tank is my suggestion. Every body talks bad about it but I have never heard any horror stories about something going wrong, although I have thought about what would happen if the flywheel ever lets go.
My 28 Sedan has the 32 tank. I think it looks great and functions well. I didnt build it but it seems pretty straight forward. You only need a repo 32 tank, the frame rail extensions (also easily available), 32 spreader bar and you're set. Pretty straight forward.
Where ever you do for your tank, be ready for electronic fuel pump, fuel regulator, pressure gauge I just did this on my RPU But it was easy for me to mount a tank in the bed
