Just bougght a 24 model t roadster been in a museum for 35 years or so. Car was rebuilt about 5 years ago i got it and now trying to get it running it has no fire. I has cleaned the coil connections i have power going in at the top but no buzzing no power out the plug firs and ideas. Never owned a original always street rodded no clue.
if you got power to the coil from the comutator check grounds. I have been working on an 1918 modle T with my dad. we finally gave up on the old wooden coils and got 4 new plastic neplacements (not cheap) and that finally did the trick , now starts and runs great. his T is a run about also.
The very first thing I would do is take the points off the coils and sand everything until it was shiny. Sand the nuts on the side that holds the points down, wire brush the studs, carefully sand the points with very fine sandpaper (400 grit or so). Clean electrical contacts are the most important bit. You will also likely have to adjust the coils to get them to buzz correctly. I think they draw 1.3 amps when they are properly adjusted.
find a model T coil tester[yes they do exhist] figure out why the coils dont buz check switch and timer, could be turned on mag? has to be running for that??
Check the power point at the coil box first off, clean the point sets on top as previously mentioned.chances are there isn't any power coming to the coils if none of them will buzz for you and for gods sakes don't buy the shitty plastic coils. They are only a temporary bandage, I swear that Walmart must have had them made in China! Any reputable T coil guy will rebuild the wooden boxes with a few diodes and suck from Radio Shack and they will be as good as new for another 80years!
