I'll own up,had one when I was 16 driving around ChCh EnZed. It used to jump out of 2nd so I had to hook 2 fingers under the lip of the dash to stop it jumping out and cracking me on the knee. Also spent most of the time on 3 wheels whenever turning a corner, inside rear would lift easy.We used to call them easyroll prefects. Good back seat in them when courting.
I concur.I'd love to put a straight axle and a tri-powered 406 in this thing and freak out the squares!
Unless you don't want to see anything but straight ahead, it can't be a sedan delivery. By the time you stuff a small V8 in that tiny engine compartment you end up sitting in the backseat, so you need the side windows to be able to see what's coming up to the left or right. I love sedan deliveries and panels, and if it could have been done I'd have done it! You can see where my seats are from this angle better:
Now I know this comment isn't at all HAMB-friendly, but that thing only weighs about 1500 pounds all up. And that long, skinny bonnet is just dying for a hipo, lightweight, twin everything inline 6 to be snugged away under it. The radiator is way back over the front axle, so there's a bit of room to push it forward too, so a small 6 should fit in there without pushing the driver's seat halfway into the boot. Let's see, 1500lbs, 350+hp turbo'd screaming inline 6, overdrive auto (no room for clutch pedal) and narowed LSD, anyone wanna drag? Cheers, Glen.
My bad Seen it come up before... that's all. And yeah, stock they barely hit 70 I think... 0-60 35-40 seconds!
This is another one I built quite a few years ago. 327 powerglide and 9" with roll cage on full registration.
Hi Rok,,,Thats the first Aussie built Anglia i have seen with stock rear guards,,, ,,,looks good not boofed out ,,,where is it now?
here's a pic of mine and what i want to build it as. got an idea to go with the "vintage modified" look but street legal. it was a butchered ex drag car and no vin on body, just frame #'s. need to get a vin tag so i can swap the ch***is. btw youtube has some great videos of these little cars roundy round racing in britan (historic stock cars).
Ford prefect -they were invented for engine swaps ! My dad owned one way back, he said it went faster in reverse , and he wasn't ****tin me ! The British have built very few good cars back then , modern cars from British are much better because of German engineering !
This is an Austin A-40 but they are very similar shaped and the same size, just shows a cool build style. Doc.
The A40 is similar length, but a bit wider body. 156 in. Prefect vs. 153.5" A40, and 57" vs. 61" width. The A40 will handle a wider front/rear axle, and has more engine room. Easily accepts a small V8 without cutting the firewall. The Prefect needs a lot of firewall work to accept a V8.
i had one when i was in school mechanical brakes mini banjo rear end mini model A front axle, 16" wide five wheels, one slow ride
Has anyone ever seen one with a straight six in it? Any idea what sort of abuse the rear axle can take? Think I may build one as soon as the Tbird is driving.
Wasn't Ford Prefect the lead character in "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy"? I guess that's why he had to hitchhike!
I think this is either an Anglia or Prefect I found in Havana Cuba. It was sat on a Moscovich ch***is or similar. The wheel base did not quite match, however, the guy owned it was so proud, you would have thought he had won the lotteries.
If you like old style small English cars it is hard to go past this one. 1955 Austin A30 I believe. Anybody recognise it??? Went like a scalded cat...
What would you expect with a triple carb Holden straight six and the late Peter Perfect behind the wheel. Is,nt this a replica though ??? Remember him blowing everyone away at Phillip Island ( Vic Australia ) in that thing.
