I was told this is a 1941 Ford P/U (3/4 ton?) hood & grill but something is missing in the grill to hood area, what should be there? Side hood shot is only to help ID. Got pic's? Thanks
Yeah the side emblems tell me it's a '41, as does the center grill, and hood moldings, but normally the hood front fits up even to the grille. What seems to be missing is an extended handle that sticks down an extra couple inches to meet up with the center grille piece. You may have a mix of different pieces. Not sure it's a 3/4 ton, they have a very stout nose. Unless their was an early version, and then they changed mid-year.
OK Weasel what is that part a latch? It looks like it fit's there but the hood already has a latch? Miss matched hood/grill?
These may help you, looks to me like the hood latch is broken off, as you see it hids the screw that holds the safety latch in. I think your hood needs to come forward maybe an 1/8 of an inch so that it sits down a little lower.
Is that the result of putting a 40/41 front clip on a 46-48 ch***is or just bad alignment? Or different years of hood and fenders?
Alignment/sagging. One I fixed had a bent frame, (down in front from firewall; truck had high-centered sometime in its life) Another (and many others, I suspect) had lost the alignment rods for the front fenders. It was difficult, but it all lined up with adjustments. The front fenders are adjustable at the semi-circle of fender-to-cowl bolts. Generally, loosen them all, align everything, clamp, and tighten. Some straightening and 'm***aging' will invariably be necessary. Those trucks are delightful! (politically correct word there)
