Titus sent me this pic from this morning. The flatty is in his truck on the way to my dad's shop for a coat of shiny baby blue! Stay tuned for more exciting adventures of Titus, Bull & the East Side Speed Shop!
Hey now!! Quit distracting my paint guy! LOL! See you on Wednesday, if you're not busy scrambling around!
So we left the fenders and a few other misc pieces to be blasted. Trouble is, Titus couldn't get in touch with the blaster he's been using. So he ended up making a trip to a buddy's place last night and blasted late into the night.
He also got my hood stripped after trying three different paint strippers. He also took off some of the edge of the hood to just below the reveal to show off more of the flatty with the hood top on the car. And since he's a glutton for punishment, he decided to play with epoxy to fix my 50 Ford wheel. Jeff loves sanding -- just ask him, he'll tell ya!
Also on the agenda for the day was cutting a big effing hole in the back of the car . . . for the gas cap. Along with more primer and slick sand on everything.
Today Jeff is having the distributor rebuilt by a good buddy. Here they're testing it on the Sun Distributor Tester. Should work well!
looks great, i guess one way or the other i will see it next weekend! good luck getting it done on time!
You heard the man! More progress from the shop last night . . . Readend all cleaned up an in the jig for sealing and painting Jeff sealed my rearend! More parts sealed after blasting them the night before.
Steering wheel (out of my dad's 50 Ford Business Coupe he's owned since age 18) epoxied, sanded and primed.
This is the first time that I've seen this thread. Very cool project. Bet you can't wait to get it done!
More shiny bits. Just got word that the flatty is all nice and shiny baby blue and being picked up by towaholic from Wright County Collision on its way to Titus. With any kind of luck, we'll have a rolling chassis tonight!
Excellent progress! I think that the baby blue was a great choice- you don't see it often and it looks classy. Keep up the good work!
Polishing was the name of the game last night. We've got about 20 hours into sanding and polishing the Edmunds 2x2 . . . no pain, no gain . . . Dry sanding with various grades of sandpaper. And wet sanding. Polishing with some rouge and some Wizards Products (shameless plug for my employer . . . see sig. )
Baby! It's blue! Looks pretty good with the tranny bolted up and in the chassis too! The rearend was still too tacky to handle last night, so it will be going back under the frame sometime today.
And BAM! We just had to set the freshly polished Edmunds 2x2 on the flatty with the 94s and chrome flame arrestor air cleaners. Absolutely LOVE it!
Then just as I was falling asleep last night, I got a pic message from Titus with these couple teasers . . . Papa Smurf would be jealous of this hue! The body and fenders will be wearing a tinted DP for this season. She'll head to Wright County Collision this Winter to get final bodywork and a coat of the shiny stuff.
The pics of the headlights dont do the blue justice, i looks grayish in the pics but in persons its a very close satin match to the blue on the motor and wheels. JEFF
We had my dad mix up some blue DP epoxy primer with white DP epoxy primer to get a shade close to the base/clear on the wheels and single stage on the flatty. We could have easily just shot it in gray DP for now, but I wanted something a little different before she gets her nice base/clear shiny baby blue paint this winter.
