A couple years back I bought my first '49 Coupe, this car was so *****in, I loved it. At the time I wasn't very smart and I sold the car, to buy..a bicycle..As soon as the car was gone I knew I messed up and I had to find another car. So my search began, I wanted another '49 and looked at a couple but people wanted a lot for not much. As I was creeping through some ally I spotted a '49! I spoke to the owner and he said he wanted $2800..I told him I would think about it...fast forward to last summer, still with out a car I was still creeping around I happened to drive past the '49 I had spied on, only on that day it had a for sale sign on it and the guy was outside. I asked how much he said $800, I didn't have to think about it and I now have my 2nd '49 Coupe. She is kinda rough, but I like her. I am thinking mild custom? Loaded up! Getting ready to be worked on..
Going to add to this when I have made some progress, nothing too cool. Picked up a semi-fresh 235, and then 2 days later scored an Edmunds intake with carbs!! This car will hit the road soon...I hope! A little polish might be required.
I have always liked the Chevrolet between 1949 and 1951 and I have owned a number of them over the years. The era of the fat fender car as a real charm and cl***ic look to it. I also always liked the smooth look to these cars with not much chrome on them. Here's one I owned back in the 60's Nostalgic Racing Decals
Lower 3-ish in the rear, 3 up front, black steel wheels, wide whites, detail the engine and engine bay, get it running and drive till I can really figure out what body work I want to do. I am thinking mild custom, when I do get to the paint stage I am thinking black top to the belt line trim, white or silver for the rest. Maybe run 55 chevy arches..Black and white interior to boot! It all sounds kick *** in my head.
I cant wait to see this one come along. I love 49s some day I hope to have one with bigs and littles and a gmc motor.
Yesss! a 49. I have a 49 more door and hope to get a coupe when finished with this one. Dude you ride is B.A! What of engine is in it?
235, I am not sure of the vintage I haven't looked up the number. Anything is better than the turd that is in there now. I know of some up here..kinda far from you though..
She is kinda rough ? If you want to see rough check out my 51 Buick . I would love for mine to have been that intact when I started . I had a 50 Torpedoback a few years back and sold it to a guy in Detroit . I like the early chevies and it sounds like yours will be a cool ride .
Alright, you got me on that. You have done a ton a work, looks great keep at it! I hope mine turns out as cool I as I think it sounds..
Whoa.. I can't wait to see all your ideas come into reality!!!!... and the proccess you did on the pics came out very nice!.
Sometimes the best part of a build is the beginning.. the ideas that flood your head and you can visual the finished project.. Then you start and the project has a mind of it's own.. ha! Good luck with it.. Love these Chebbies.
Ah, I see we have same style of flooring the reverse convertible. This week pulling the motor and trans, degreasing it; painting dropping in new motor! Way stoked.
Hey dudes, I haven't done much to the Chevy. I have all next week off, time to put the hammer down! Picked up a new camera and took a couple shots..I hope to have progress shots by next weekend..
