Better watch Petit Jean. It will get under your skin, and you will find yourself going back every year. It's relatively small, compared to Pate , but the meet is good, car corral, car show, and of course the museum too. People are usually top notch to get along with as well. My group has been going there exclusively since 1978! We were just going to check it out, and then find another destination. Well, now mom and dad have built a retirement home there, and I embark on my annual 300+ mile trek tomorrow. Oh yeah, the trees and mountains are cool too.
The iron bed that I have slept in for the past 20 years came from the automotive swap meet. I think I paid $40. You never know what you will find over there.
I go every year! most of the time on wed! Find all the good stuff first. HOT! HOT HOT! Most of the stuff is way too much $$$ but there is some good deals!
thanks for the info. weather does not look that bad. was 102 here the other day. so upper 90's ain't no big deal.
I used to go every year. The weather is too hot. Bring plenty to drink. The non autmotmoive crap keeps getting larger. however you can occasionallly find some bargains. Shows like the american pickers have ruined most swap meets. I will stay home this year save the gas money. I really dont need any more stuff. Oldwolf
I first went in 1978 when in the Air Force stationed at Blytheville AFB, AR. I've been many times from my home in FL, and just got here from SC. It's Sunday and some venders are already setting up (they don't make them wait outside til the starting gun sounds like at Chicksha). Always a good time ! Camp for a week and drive a "T" around the mountain every day. Life is good !
I have made alot of friends there over the years. Old men with a world of info on old cars. Enjoy seeing them as much as the cars and parts there. I have found prices better there than other swap meets. Go early, wear good walking shoes,at big hat helps, lots of water. Have fun. I'll be in a-11 come buy some treasures.
