Raced at Union Grove, WI today for the "Hunnert Car Pile Up Heads Up Drag races". Turned 12.067 ET at 109.50 MPH and backed it up with a 12.106 ET at 109.56 MPH. So I believe that this gives me the Record for this cl***, previously held by Ron Golden at 12.10 ET. Did some tuning on the carbs after making a couple of p***es in the low 12.20's, car really came to life!!! The air did not seem to be that good, it was cool, but very heavy. This was my first time out for the year as our spring was the worst that I can remember, cold and wet!!! Was totally delighted with the 12.067, it really hooked up, pulling front wheels about 8" off strip!!! The crowd really love these early dragsters, just wish more people would build them????
Excellent ! This could bring some renewed interest, maybe? The flattie eights have it gents, who's up for the challenge?
congrats, that's excellent, certainly tapping on the door of the 11's, what do you think you can do to the car to get it there? Cheers, and congrats again, Drewfus
Drewfus, I do have a bigger motor in the works, but this little jem keeps getting it done. So how could I get it in the 11's, I will keep playing with the tuneup and the launch. The launch is so critical, JUST enough wheel spin to keep from bogging, so track prep is important also. Stay clear of the water that the cars with slicks use, you never spin out all of the water and you will not hook up good. I have wanted to try a 4.11 rear ratio, as I run a 4.33 now, not sure if I could launch without bogging. As now I am wound tight well before the 1/4 mi lights, probably at 1000' or 1100' mark. So right now to get in the 11's, I would need really good air, great track prep, excellent launch and the right tuneup for this combination. These things you can't buy, you get lucky!!!!
cool, but do you have a break down of your fast run, ie 60' times etc? what sort of top end rpm are you wound out to, and what how heavy is the car? Have you considered trying a 3.8/3.9 ratio? Those area's you mention are all so understated, but ever important for these kinds of cars. Congrats again, Drewfus
The winner and still champeeeeen way to go 2b . How tall of tire 29 110 mph is about 5450 rpm 28 inch tire 5650 if i did the math rightwith 433 are you going make old time drags at tulsa this year l j
Another hearty congratulations. I've watched Youtube video of your runs in Illinois many times and am very impressed with the performance and your driving/shifting. Ron Golden, great to see you posting.
