If you could have any part fabricated what would it be?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Roothawg, Apr 26, 2005.

  1. I could think of loads, the thing is I would want only ONE to be fabricated, 'cause as soon as they pop up in some catalogue....
    I'm sad, I know.

Center hinge piece for a 36 Chevy. It took me forever to find one. The chrome is done for and it has some damage where it mounts to the firewall but it is usable at least.

Oh yeah... and some Guide headlights with the pointed turn signal lenses.

For those that requested '40 Ford fenders. You do know that Bob Drake is cloning the '40 Ford coupe don't you? He already has rear fenders I believe, as well as hoods and dash panels. It won't be long and you'll be able to order up a complete '40 Ford coupe. I guess the breakup of the former Soviet Union will eventually benefit us hot rodders. It sure is nice having former military aircraft plants begging for work. :D  I'm sure most of you have seen or heard of the "perfect" aluminum 427 Cobra bodies that are now available. I say perfect because the origionals were far from it with uneven door gabs and mismatched panels. Still, at over a million dollars a copy for the origionals, maybe perfect ones aren't the hot ticket.:)

I'd like to see 413 Mopar style crossrams made with two barrels to fit 318 Polyspheres or maybe any aftermarket intake that'll fit on my Desoto Hemi. Those '40 coupes in steel sounds like a huge project. Would be a worthy one though, with all the new steel coming out, perhaps fibergl*** will once again be relegated to Corvette's and drag cars.

I'd like a chrome bull nose for a '35 Ford. They only seem to make them for 36's.

When I left Bob Drakes about 3 years ago, he was just getting rolling on the '40 coupe project. I stopped by a couple weeks ago, and he said it's getting closer, but...I worked there during the great '34 grille debacle - overseas labor is cheap, but troubleshooting a project on the other side of the world is a killer! I don't know if those grilles have made it into production yet...The Tiawanese got the last laugh on me though - they got my job!

My turn: I'd like to see Halibrand repop the small window kidney beans...

fathack, Morrison is supposed to be doing one in the future. As soon as Craig gets his 53 wagon out of the corner and get interested in building it I am sure they will fab one..

As for me the I would like to see a kit fabricated to convert a 40 ford body to a Woodie (all the hardware and wood kit). maybe from a 40 4 door sedan.. Seeing that so many other 40 parts are getting close to be made (including fenders and convert bodies)..

    Contact Kirk at woodieworks...

His work is gorgeous. Does it all in a two car garage. He can make a 4 door into a woodie that will make you drool.

    I've got more than one:

A reasonably-priced Hallock-style windshield for the 28/29 that fits without a lot of grief.

A bullnose for a Deuce grille shell that starts out about the width of the hinge cover, then tapers down to a smooth end -- and doesn't have a little oval badge chinga-dare.

    A wireless horn ****on.

I'm with '60s Style on the Olds stuff, but while I'm dreaming, how about...

    Carter WCFBs.

All of the old high performance intakes.

A "universal" series of blower manifolds, snout extensions, pulleys and the rest needed to put a Weiand blower on old iron. Maybe a basic manifold and then a series of port adaptors for the various engines.
Anyone ever see one for a Y Block!!??

26-7 T coupe repair panels, deck lids, doors, cowls, sub frames, etc. Maybe complete body kits, in steel of course.

Ha Ha. I'm talking about wieght reduction. The stock doors are heavy. I could move a little faster if I didn't have to haul your girlfriend around.

I definately vote for the Flathead short block.

They make almost everything for the old flatty but a shortblock. I always wondered what would happen to the flatty parts manufactors when the flatties got too scarce to justify making parts for them.....Seems like a self preservation thing to me.....hint - hint.

Well, I can think of a few items:
    *1940 V8 60, 3 1/2 x 16 stock type rims
*Bonneville Tires that look vintage and can handle 300mph
*39 Lincoln Zephyr Taillights complete(you could sell a ton of them,Hey Bob Drake! You getting this)
*41 Studebaker tailights with gl*** lenses that are correct.
*49 Chevy license plate guards in steel and chromed
*18 inch Ford truck wheels/Divco milk truck wheels( I guess they wouldn't be so cool then) Oh, and beauty rings to go with them.
*1935-1940 Hollywood style steel fender skirts
That's a good start for now

I could go for some sheetmetal for 62 cadillacs. More sheetmetal for 65-6 f100s too.

Aw hell why not! I'd dig a `39 Ford toploader trans, beefed up and fully syncronized with a 4th overdrive gear. One that hooks to the torque tube with no mods to it or the x- member.
