Ok, just got back a few hours ago, covered in dust and sunblock. I'm tired as hell, but will throw up a few photos and add more later. If anyone else wants to add theirs to this thread go for it lets make this a big El Mirage thread. Got to the lake bed Saturday.Never saw any one around this trailer or banner. The sun is setting quickly! What a way to spend your Saturday night! You can almost hear the crickets! My Luxurious accommodations! Sleeping in the back of the Bronco telling Knock knock jokes with my two sons. They LOVE it! 6am Sunday morning and the sun is already shining bright. Wait for it......wait for it! KABLEWIE! A few seconds after this picture was taken, the engine turned it's self into shrapnel. I could almost hear the cash register sing cha-ching! No caption needed. Zoooooom! Bean Bandits. Salute the colors! Gratuitous photo with Gene and my sons. Happy 84th to Gene!!! I'll post more tomorrow. Time to shower the dirt off!
Man those kids are getting big! Any more shots of the Bean Bandits lakester? See you on the salt Mike!
Great photos, hope to do this with my kids some day (gotta make some first ). Looking forward to more!
Saturday evening was a "Dirty2" meeting at the SCTA compound, then a Benefit BBQ for Mike Cook Jr. Good time, food OK and raised some money for Jr. J
Two other roadsters went 250 and 251 mph. That would get your attention no matter who you are. Most amazing thing about this, the size tires used for so much hp. J
always really good stuff from you, Mike....top-notch photos always......I'll be waiting for the rest.....Doug HEY! Missed you at the Antique Nationals last weekend...
Nice shots! We were there Sat. but came home after haveing the cage inspected, Hope to run next month.
Here is a shot of that 250 mph roadster. Friggin' awesome! Okay Tman here is some Bean Bandit action for you. Gene Winfield I dug this midget running the Ford banger.
Hi ya Mike, good to see you out there. I wish I could've talked with you some more. Thanks for posting the pics, great stuff as always. Are you gonna be at LARS? Later, Mike
Ok, here are a few more in completely random order. I guess ink & iron was this weekend which explains why so many HAMBr's weren't there. Personally, I'd rather watch cars and motorcycles race.
The weather was perfect all weekend and I had a great time as usual. The abandoned HAMB camp was mine. If it was Sat eve I was either on a dirt bike ride or at the BBQ at the SCTA building. Not to many HAMB'rs came by, just the usual, Kaui, fireingorder1, mctim64. I had mechaical issues on my first run and had to turn out. I ran strong on my 2nd run but it was only 66.1 mph. Getting ready for my 3rd run a girl (I know her but not her name) went down and had to be air lifted out, it put a damper on my next run so we pulled out of line and went home. see you guys in July!
man oh man - everytime I see pix like these....it just reminds me that there is STILL a lot more I need to do in this life. Thanks for posting and perhaps 2012 I will finally get out to Speed Week
No problem. I hadn't been out to El Mirage in like 10-12 years. Got invited by my buddy and actually had the weekend clear for a change. Weather was great and I had a ball. Was really bummed out to learn that you basically can't run a street driven car there anymore. I have dreamed of running something but I can't dedicate a vehicle to this hobby/sport...
That's always a drag, do you know how she is doing? I hope to be ready for the Uni's first p*** in July, see you then.
