general hand tools, it's hard to beat Craftsman (Sears). Pretty good quality for the money, and the broken tool/exchange/warranty is great. you can do all your shopping on line, and they send you a catalog in your first order.

    Hey,

Given you location I'd offer the following: Tool & equipment manfactures today all have to compete in a world market. That means they are having most of their goods built in China:eek: Princess Auto, Horrablely ****ed (Harbor Freight USA) & Clarks UK all hecko in China.
I'd figger out jus what you are looking for and what you'll pay, and watch ebay & craigs list etc, up there in the land of ice & snow. You can buy real tools made from real materials that you can no longer buy in the world market today new.

*******s can be made from old files and leaf springs and bent and ground to a mirror finish with little effort. Old body tools with names like Snap on, Sykes, Farmount, Proto, Plumb, Cornwall,Herbrand& H.K. Porter are all old, good body tools! Martin tools, here in the states sell good tools @ fair prices, new. Most or their line is made off the old Fairmont patterns. I wouldn't purchase any body tools that come in " a kit' !

Mmmm....Martin make great body tools. Not cheap but great quality. Get wooden handled hammers for body work.

I'd agree with Martin as far as body hammers go.
The best bang for the buck Craftsman sets on sale is the best way to go for everyday hand tools. The Sears Craftsman tool catalog is good to look through just to get ideas.

If there are pawn shops in Iceland check them for tools, especially in the city. You have to know what stuff is worth but sometimes you can get good deals on quality tools that way. Also estate sales and other sell off the family belongings sales may be worth your time to check out.

  7. I am NOT bashing eastwood, I still ocasionally buy from them, that said my #1 source now is Auto Body Tool Mart. TR

NEVER USE A CAST IRON BODY HAMMER OR CAST IRON DOLLY. Junk. Always go forged. You got swap meets up there? Look for hammers instead of chrome  You'd be amazed at what you can get sometimes. Surely you live in a different world up there, but the pawn shop idea is good too. If you can't wait there's smaller shops like:

There's others as well. These folks are local to me, their stuff is alright. I bought a few things from them.

There is no such thing as 'good' AND 'cheap'.

I have a set of dagger brand body hammers and dollies, I LOVE THEM!!! Kinda wish i'd gone martins though.

If you want to get good at body work, i suggest a good set of tools, they will help a lot. I was lucky enough to grow up around a high dollar street rod shop and try out their stuff and really see what i was missing
