And by "help", I mean "tell me what the heck it is". I have no info on it other than that we found it loose in the dirt (yeah, real helpful clue there, I know ) and it has a GM number on it (3742361) that only comes up with a single automotive-related hit on Google, that hints it's a 6-cyl/Powerglide adapter. (No photos, though.) Can anyone positively ID it? Anyone need it? Doc.
the small pin showing through the opening at the 10 o'clock position in pics 2 and 3 appears to be some sort of a timing pointer. Location of the starter holes precludes any application for late (40 on up) p***enger or light truck applications. Likely some industrial use - but this guess has to be tempered by the reference you gave for the part number - Powerglides have only been in use since early 50s - and nothing on that "adaptor" likes like any six cylinder in my memory banks. Intriguing problem - be interesting to see just how fast the HAMB takes to solve it.
Easy Its a 235/261 Chev six cylinder cast iron powerglide adapter. The six specific auto trans bolts to this plate.
just guess that shows how much I know about stovebolt sixes....now I'm educated...although I don't know how long that will stick
It's probably not a hot seller but you can be sure that somewhere along the line someone will be needing it.
Definitely 6 cyl Chev.....The give away is that timing pointer. There was a 1/8" ball pressed into the flywheel,.. to be aligned with that pin. 4TTRUK
