That is so cool, I love Mom's with great at***udes. Mine was my best friend and she was so damn funny, cool, and drag raced her Olds Starfire coupe, can't beat that. Thanx for the great story, chrome no less, yeah!! ~sololobo~
Yes sir, learned to bake and cook at an early age. No store bought cookies for us kids. If we asked for cookies or cake my Mom pointed to the cupboards and told us to bake our own. My current couch has a southwest theme I'm trying to get away from Thanks for the offer though. so, after more discussions looks like an IP mount is an additional $80 (if needed), and toe plate is an additional $109 (if needed) and a rag joint is an additional $111 (if needed). If needed means that if my current pieces won't fit with the new column. My current rag joint is fine as far as I know but for $111 I think I should probably replace it since everything is going to be torn apart already....right??
Sounds like you have a very pragmatic mom, mine was as well. Of course my mother once told my first wife "All men are alike, we just give them names to tell them apart..." lol. Miss her a lot, hug yours as often as possible. Get what you want, even if it takes a while longer to save for it, you'll be happier in the long run. Don't settle! Webters defines settling as "to sink slowly to the bottom". Who the hell would wants that! lol
Geez.. I'm outta the loop! I didn't realize there WAS such a thing as an $800 column! What. is that gold plated or something. $800? Somebody help me here to understand.. $800.. really?... $800.. Have I said $800 enough yet? I don't get it.. why could a column be $800???? $800???... Maybe he mistyped and hit and extra zero by mistake? $800????
Bowling Green? I was thinking maybe I would run into you at "BTT50s" so I could get my picture took with you!
Come buy my old one, which will be for sale at my garage sale next weekend. No rips, tears or stains. I can send you a photo or you might remember it. Actually $854 plus tax to be exact I know, I know, but I'm told it vibrates too I'm thinking about BTT50's next June.
right,(dont half- *** anything) replace everything needed just be carefull and dont start a small project and have it turn into a complete nut and bolt redo like most of my small projects turn into i think big olds likes to ***embled and driving all over the country
Buncha big Momma's boys on here! I'd give everything I own and an arm for an afternoon with my Mom. Hug yours often.
Well! I WAS going to tell you that if you were not in a big hurry, I had a new Idit with column mount GM switch, shifter and turn signals. Of course i have the column drop, the floor plate and a new Lecara 50's style wheel with chrome horn ring and adapter. Would look right at home in Big Olds! I WAS going to suggest that if you were not in a big hurry, that during the HAMB drags, you might drop by and look it over. I have had all this stuff(new, of course) for the 47 Ford project which seems to have stagnated. Oh! Well! By the way, you do not need a couch whilst you are dragging the streets in Big Olds.
Mighty sweet of you swettheart BUT if I get stuck on the road at some point between now and the HAMB Drags and Big Odls wont turn off or start I'd be in big trouble. You're going to need the stuff soon I hope. I'd sure like to see your project complete. BTW, I hug and tell my Mom almost daily that I love her and appreciated everything she does for me.
When I was 16 and building my Av8 I had run out of money getting it running and no $$$'s for an interior. One day my mom was out in the garage checking on my progress as she did a least once a week. She ask the usual questions and finally said "what are you going to do with the interior?" "Do without, no money" was my reply. "Well, if that's the case I can help. Can you bring the seat cushions in the house tonight when you finish?" "Sure what have you got in mind?" I say. "Wait and see" was all she would say. Two days later she presented me with seat cushions covered as well as if they had been professionally done. Later I cut the board for kick panels and doors she covered those also. A year later I bought a cheap headliner kit and my interior was complete. She p***ed away 6 months ago and I miss her every day. I've met your Mom Denice and she is a keeper for sure. Give her a hug every chance you get and make sure she knows how precious she is to you. Frank
That ol Ford will probably be just like it is the day they throw dirt in my face. I ought to advertize it or sell off the parts. Get the space back in the shop.
I can relate to that. I was going to get a plain steel Ididit column for my 63 Chevy pick-up & paint it myself. Powercoat was only about $100 more.
Whenever I'd have trouble with a stubborn/rusty bolt my mom would always say "Are you sure you're turning it the right way"? Sad thing is she was right sometimes.
lol. My mom stole my 36 on sunday! She was over for a while and I went in the house to get a beer then heard my car start and back out of the drive way. She came back about 20 minutes later and said "it needs fatter tires!". laughed so hard it hurt! gotta love her!
First time on the road with my 39' and I go to my mom's house to give her a ride. She comes to the door and looks at my car and says, "Paint it and I'll go for a ride". Since when is Primer not paint? 20 years later, "Still no paint...Still no ride!"
Denise, it's probably not the same couch, but the one you had when we met was one of my favorite couches ever. As for your Mom, I always knew she was cool
things i learned from this thread; denise's mom is cool. hug our moms often new steering columns are expensive denise's cookies are worth at least $200 in swopped labor.
Denise, I see where you get your coolness from. Usually when my mom asks me if I have the money for something, her next comment is good can I borrow some money for bingo tonight. Then she wins and never gives me any back. Haha That's what makes her special.
You can never go wrong buying what you really want, makes for a better ride. If you ever install a second rate item, you always look at it and say "I should have........." Great Mom story, my Mom always enjoyed seeing the latest project I would drag home.
I miss my Mommy, she made great cookies too. Make sure your Mom knows how much you love her. BTW, good luck with the column. Sounds like you'll have plenty of help.
OMG! Yes it's the same couch and I so wish it would fit down my ba*****t stairs as I would keep it forever. Perhaps you might want it for a keepsake??
I wonder if the shop thats going to do it would trade labor for cookies??? Perhaps they need alittle taste test.
