Hi everyone, I saw some old posts with pictures from Life magazine from the 50's and many questions about where these pictures were taken, who was in them and questions about the Slo-poke Club of Dubuque, IA. I am an old drag racer and gear head from the 50's who is still involved in cars and know many of the people and cars in the pictures. I raced in a circuit out of Chicago from the 50's until the end of the season in 1970. I am also the last active member of the original Slo-poke Club of Dubuque, IA. I still own, and show, the 32 Ford coupe I built as my high school senior project in 1956. I would be happy to share any information or old stories, I can remember, with anyone who is interested.
Sam....welcome from Southern Wisconsin.......You sure got some nice rides......I've been to Dubuque a couple of times with my 39.....great hot rodders in that area....Big Bad John
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Yes, I had the 32 green coupe at torque fest last year and this year I took the green coupe and the 32 yellow high-boy rodster to torque fest in Maquoketa, IA. If you can find the Rod & Kulture Magazine Issue #23, Fall 2010, you can get afull rundown on the coupe starting on page 74. I'll work on getting some pictures up in the mean time.
Welcome sir, from the suburbs of Maquoketa. Thanks for supporting the show and hope to see you come for many years.
