a friend just picked this one up. anyone know what the hell it is? never seen anything like it before.
It may be an illusion but comparing the size of the door to the size of the interior compartment, it looks like it's a BIG body. Definately not a run of the mill manufacturer.
It has paralell leafs front and rear, i would say Chevy/Buick. looks like it had lotsa wood in it too.
After performing a SWAG ****ysis on those pics, I have come to the conclusion that the wheel wells remind me of my mates Dodge Bros coupe body. ...What's a SWAG ****ysis? Scientific Wild ***ed Guess. Doesn't matter anyway. Its a Hotrod
Looks very much like a 1917 Dodge roadster body. Friend of mine just got a complete one cept for grill shell. He's gonna use it for "yard art". I'll try to get a pic of it this afternoon and post it. Another clue is the curved frame. Same guy had a 25 Dodge roadster that I thought would make a nice T-Bucket style roadster, but he gave it away. The frame, if salvageable would make a nice ch***is for a hot rod. I understand that building a T-Bucket style roadster out of the Dodge's was commonly done in Australia. Nice part about the Dodges, especially the 17 model I saw yesterday is that they are considerably larger than the T's. Fenders are similar to a T and to my eye they would make a very nice full fendered roadster.
When I picked up my 24 Overland there were two late teen's early 20's dodge's there and this looks just like them.both cars had parralel leafs.Besides build it anyway. In the words of the great poet."YOU BE COOL"
I would say Dodge as well. I have a 25ish Dodge bucket that I am building soon and it looks alot like that.
With the eliptic rear springs I'd have to say its a Dodge. I don't recognize the turtle deck so if it is its got to be like a '27 or so. That raised lip in the back side of the bucket also screams Dodge Bros. They had a tendency to use the same tub for the coupe and the roadster. The roof screwed to the lip. The coupe body is real good if you're into a cabriolet type of a car. You just attach the window channel to the roof, and when you unbolt the roof for the summer its a roadster (with side gl***).
Trunkline looks like Jordan *******, but the doors are wrong. I suspect it's a non-mainstream manufacturer.
thanks for all the info so far. its definitely strange. i dont think the frame its sitting on is the original one to that body.
Please post a good picture of the door handle and the door hinges too. I have 17 roadster/touring doors that I have not identified. Thanks!
