Ford gurus, I need your help. I've dis***embled a '54 Ford car differential and need to know if the spacer on the pinion is the colapsable type? It appears that it is, but the only info I have on setting the pinion bearings talks about the shim behind the rear bearing. If anyone has a real Ford manual and could look this up, I would really appreciate it.

THe pinion depth is set with a shim, the pinion bearing preload is set with the collapsible spacer. This is from an old Chiltons manual, and is how most pinions are set up.
