This was posted up on cl***icfunnycarboard.com and thought you guys would get a kick out of it. The driver is Russ Parker in the "High Bucks 4" N/Mustang at Woodburn. Thats an Oh **** moment if there ever was one! Note the steering shaft snapped off, not the quick release letting go, no driver error or shame. Glad he got it shut down somewhat safely.
if that aint a WTF moment..just look at him fumble wondering what the hell? bet he needs a new Nomex suit
I think a combination of luck and skill with this near disaster. Wonder if there was any damage to the seat??!!!
Whoa. Toward the end...nope, damn thing won't go back in. Then tosses it aside...stupid steering wheel. lol.
Look @ the shaft where it failed.....Looks like an extention, failed at the bolt/pin.. Hard to believe it p***ed safety tech ! Dave
holy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey, at least he wasn't texting or talking on his cell phone. i'm sure someone got their *** handed to them on his crew.
The more I see of this new supercharged nostalgia type stuff being constructed with a total lack of regard toward safety, even of standards within the period they originally came from, the more I'm left wondering if there is actually anyone around to do a safety inspection and certification, let alone a sanctioning and safety ***ociation left to police it. This adds to my first su****ion of no. If you knew your car was going to kill you or anyone around watching, would you still strap in? I'm sorry, there is absolutely NO excuse here, and I'll let hard earned lessons learned from Yellow River, Dallas Ga., or even Selma Tenn. recently speak for themselves. Tom S.in Tn.
Bet there's a pinch mark in the seat after that one... The image of him looking at the end of it is priceless -rick
