I have a 53' Coronet 4 door and the only windshields i can find are for the 2 door hard top.... So my question is what is the difference and if there isn't much could i pull out the shrinker / stretcher and make up the difference in the both of them? I'm almost tempted to retro fit a more common one in there because it will be used daily and in the long run with all the roads around here i doubt i can keep the chips away. I just don't want to change the unique styling of the car as it is. Any ideas????

I don't think there would be much difference if any. I just sold my 53 two door and there isn't much difference between the two and four.

I have a spare 4 door front window, but I'm in PA and likewise concerned about the rocks around here. Although once you have one in, its insurance who buys the replacement.

Yea i mean the floor is out of it and by no means we are restoring it. but then again i dont want to chop it or go too radical. I might see if i cant find a 2 door and do some comparasing or go all out and put another model windshield in there and make it a full custom.

Dodge cars used at least 3 different windshields in 1953, not counting the Solex tinted glass. 4dr sedans & 2 dr club coupes shared the same windshields, while the 2 dr hardtop used a different one & convertibles used a third. They all appear as different part nos in the parts book. I don't have any idea of the windshield size differences between the 2 dr club coupe & the 2 dr hardtops, except to say there are a lot of body dimension differences, including fenders & hoods.

I wouldn't think it would be to hard to find a usable 4 dr windshiled, given how many were built.

I have found a few too bad shipping one has to be no fun. No one wants to deal with it or it costs too much. Its almost worth driving 700 miles to get one and to have a good road trip it almost seems like. Im just glad the back window is in great condition otherwise i would be chopping it for sure.

I have a '53 Coronet Diplomat Hardtop and would like a new (spare) windshield for it. Some years ago I bought a new w/s from a guy, still in my basement in the box, but am not sure which body style it fits. Do you have meausrements, height and width, of the version you need?

What about the 53 suburban windshield? They came in two and four door models?
