what alternator (amps, brand, part number, supplier...etc) are you guys moving to when you do a 6v to 12v switch? and besides the alternator, am i looking at changing the starting solenoid, light bulbs, somehow reducing voltage to the gauges, and leaving the 6v starter in? thanks appreciate the help
Quite a few of my social group members have used this when converting, the one wire makes it EZ with one wire to the battery only no other wiring needed so you can get rid of the voltage regulator and the wiring clutter that goes with it,check it out: http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-5317-...igh-output-alternator-1-wire-10si-chrome.aspx
I did my 51 Ford with the Delco 10SI. I used the stock gen mount, made the strap longer,I had to make a shim so it would sit level. The wiring is simple too.
call patrics in arizona. i bought 12v field windings for the original generator, and use Runtz voltage reducers for the gauges.
