I was in Kenora Ontario Canada a few weeks back and saw on my way there a canyon that had a pile of what looked like 30 to 40 cars from the earley 30's at the bottom. I didn't have a camera at the time. Anybody have any info? Well the update is later on in the thread. Here is the pics. http://s433.photobucket.com/albums/qq56/custom292/Kenora Swamp/
Its prolly the same one I remember seeing on one of my cross country jaunts...never stopped no camera either
Well here is the update. Me and a fellow hamber stopped in and took a look. It makes you cry. As soon as I can figure out how to post pics I will. The number of 2 door coups will kill you.
From what we saw the newest car was a 1956 Chevy on its side in the trees. My camera dies after 83 pics. it seems like a lot of late 30's coups.

Wow! Looks like an old dump.... a sawzall would help bring anything good out of there. Bet the water snakes love that place!
i have drove by that place many times, and stare at that split rear window and wonder what else was down there. thanks for the pics
I grew up in Kenora and that dump site has been there for as long as I can remember. Lord knows what ended up beneath the surface of that swamp. I have no idea what it would take to get some of that stuff out of there. It was probably pushed over that cliff back in the days when the environment was not an issue.
that is exactly what I think happened. I know that there was a bunch of stuff like frames that were so sunk in the swamp you could only tell that there are there by the humps for the rear end. and then as we climed the mountain we could find some bumpers that are just stuck out of the dirt. that hill probaby had may things in it but there not there now. That tail fin is extremelt lose so there is probably not anything left of the car it was attached to.
Oh and I forgot my camera had died and then we found the remain of an original cruser skirt for a shoe box just laying there. Sad
I found out the origin of the pile. I was talking to the husband of one of the secretaries and he grew up in the area. Apparently every year way back when the town would drag an old car out onto the ice and would do a raffle that you would buy tickets on to see when it went through the ice. Then when they cleaned up the bay the stuff was just dumped in the ravine. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Update. I went to Kenora on the weekend and saw that the pile was completely gone. The governement cleaned it all up.
