We went to a local car so today and by the time we got out of there I was saying never again.
I pulled in with only a hour and a half left for the show but I was willing to pay to enter because the club does some great things with the money. We had our dog in the back so when we got parked my wife put his leach on and started walking around. As we were making the last of the loop around the show one of the members of the host club confronted my wife saying dogs are not allowed and she had to leave. Her answer "OK". He said the county did not allow dogs so she had to leave. "OK" was her answer again then he aggressively said "you have to leave now". We put the dog back in the truck and left.

I understand rules are rules and need to be followed but this fella was just rude about it. And was in no way warranted the dog was on a short leach and well behaved.

Oh well there lots of cars show, we'll find another one.

Dogs are not allowed, but seems like ***holes are. Sorry about that Joe. Not all shows are like that - I hope -

Try not to let this rude wannabe spoil it for you.

Pushy ***holes like that really piss me off.

I realize there are some people who don't like even the nicest, well behaved dogs, but those people generally **** anyway.

I went to a show/swap meet last year with my pugs. After we were in the park for about 30 minutes, we noticed there were small signs out for no dogs. There were even some dogs in vendor stalls. At the entrance to the park there was a doggie bag dispenser. OK I get it and we left before anyone told us to. I noticed this years event flier has a notice about dogs. Would have been nice to know that before driving 60 miles last year. Just saying!

I guess I could understand that. Did the club bother to mention it on their flyer? Maybe at the gate?

rules are rules. what if someone from the county had seen the dog and refused to allow the club the use of the venue next year. now the club has one less fund raiser they need and less money to do good with.
sounds like you were being rude sticking around when you were asked to leave.

Think of the situation for the dog? If the dog reacts due to fear or dehydration who loses?

no I wasn't being rude. the conversation went from you can't have your dog in here to get out now in less than 20 seconds.
we walked directly to the truck and left. I saw no sign of dogs the gentleman at the gate said nothing of the dog standing in the back of the truck. I saw other dogs in cars.
I'm just upset about how rude it was handle on the first confrontation.
There is no way we would leave dog **** laying around for you to step in.

One of the county facilities here where a major car show is held every year has signs at the gates that say no dogs allowed on the premises.
One thing though, if the guy was raising hell with her it may have been because someone raised hell with him because she was parading around the grounds with the dog. If the dog had been laying beside her lawn chair behind the car no one might have said anything but when you parade around and throw it in their face they feel have to do something about it.

My dog went almost everywhere with me before I lost him but there were times he had to stay home too. Still for the most part I'd rather see people with well behaved dogs than the people who turn their kids loose to run wild in the car shows.

I had something like this happen once - brought the dog and was confronted about it. I didn't realize it was a rule... I was a little pissed at first about how it was handled, then it occurred to me that there loads of jackholes around that take their dogs everywhere and don't clean up after them, hence rules are made.

I hate stepping dog s#it... I leave the dogs at home

Dogs at a car show are worse than kids on bikes or skate boards at one.
They ****, piss and jump up on doors to look inside, slobbering all over upholstery and destroying the paint as they slide their claws down the side on the way off.
    Yea, I've seen it happen!
They rank right up there with sea gulls except the gulls don't have teeth.

Maybe the guy expected your wife to about face and take the dog away immediately, and if it didn't appear she was doing so he was doing what was necessary under the cir***stances.
On the other hand, did you have the dog hidden when you went in?
If not, the person taking your money at the gate should have said something then.
